Title: [RELEASE CL, BC, WotLK] Cohesive Druid Forms
Post by: leeviathan on October 25, 2015, 06:17:02 pm
DESCRIPTION:
This patch replaces the original WoW Druid Forms with more visually cohesive ones. This is not strictly a downport from later expansions, I've modified many of the models and textures.

Some changes include: making the Night Elf forms all have glowing eyes and removing any eye-glow from Tauren forms, removing collar bits from NE cat/bear forms, recoloring most of the NE cat/bear variations (WotLK only), increasing the resolution of the BfA Bear Form eyes, fixing the Bear's cleft pallet (BfA NE Bear), fixing poorly weighted vertices in many models (esp. Moonkin), adding overhauled Aquatic and Travel Forms for Tauren, Custom Tree of Life Forms, and lots more...

Do you plan on working on the 2.4.3 version?

I've tried it and get it to work for a small while then it starts to error and boot you from WoW every time you open it.

I keep getting a Can't read memory error. It works for a bit then it just stops working all together and crashed when i try and load into WoW.

Edit - Seems the problem starts when I die. It will run perfect with the new model and when I die and release to graveyard the game crashes i get the can't read memory error and I can't get it to work again for a few hours.

That's a pretty mysterious sounding error, it sounds like anti-cheat behavior considering you can't get back on for a while after it happens.

I do plan on testing this, but I'm waiting on getting an account with a high enough level druid to test with.

EDIT: I got my hands on a druid on 2.4.3 and fixed the random crash error. Download link is updated.

Tested on WotLK and it works perfectly. Are you planning on adding alternatives to the newer versions (saberon/claws of shirvala would be epic on WotLK)

Excellent!

Personally I'm not a fan of the new Cat Form alternates so I wasn't planning on adding them; to me they go against my "Cohesive" goal. I think the only way I would add them would be if it was part of an overall "were"-druid pack (werebear, werecat, werestag, were-everything).

Right now the only thing left in my grand scheme is to somehow find a way to have Horde and Alliance Druids use different models/skins for their Travel Form/Aquatic Form (for which I'll have to create the unique Horde Aquatic Form in Blender). I doubt it's possible to do this by editing the client alone, so it's probably never going to happen unless I get some server support. Also I'd like to port the patch to every expansion, or at least to Cata.

Glad to hear that you're bringing it to Cata. Whenever the other forms make it to legion alpha (i think cat form is there but I haven't seen any vids with bear form) will you be adding those?

Surely, I am not the only one noticing this? This is on 1.12.1. The weapon appears when bear starts hitting in combat.

I'm running 3.3.5a and am wondering if its possible to just use the stag forms for alliance and horde since I'm happy with the defaults in wotlk. Is this something that can be done? And if so could anyone provide instructions on how to do it?

The bear showing weapon thing is something I only recently noticed. I'm investigating a possible fix now.
UPDATE: fixed it

I'm not planning on creating a stag-only WotLK patch, but it would be relatively easy to create using my patch as a base.

I manage to put my hands in a beta legion client 20750 and i update to 21021, i can say that when i convert the druid models this isn't an issue anymore. I have told to Spik96 about it and to investigate his tools in deep. WoD models seemed to glitch but legion work, its really weird effect. Anyway Spik96 knows the issue i hope to find something helpfull.

With Spik96's help I have solved my bear issue, I just need to repackage everything and upload it.

UPDATE: fix is uploaded

Hello good sir,

I am using your patch on my own server and am having two issues. If you could guide me in the right direction on how to fix them that would be awesome. I tested this on both available patches (Nostalrius and the standard).
In Bear Form and Dire Bear Form the sound of attack is the equipped weapon.
Travel Form does not have the updated model.

Thanks for your help, and awesome patch!

I'll have to check the bear sound, it may be that my solution to hiding the weapon didn't fix the sound. It wasn't something that crossed my mind, thanks for pointing it out!

I'm guessing that the mob ID for Travel Form is incorrect on your server; I've noticed that it isn't consistent from server to server. For instance, on Nostalrius they use the mob ID of the "Swamp Jaguar" (http://db.vanillagaming.org/?npc=767 (http://db.vanillagaming.org/?npc=767" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) model ID 632) for the Travel Form, and on Kronos they use the mob ID of Travel Form (http://db.vanillagaming.org/?npc=6573 (http://db.vanillagaming.org/?npc=6573" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) model ID 918).

Where in the MPQ can I change the ID so that it matches the Travel Form on my server?
Title: Re: [RELEASE CL, BC, LK] Cohesive Druid Forms
Post by: leeviathan on February 23, 2016, 06:18:05 pm
First you have to find out the ID that your Travel Form is using.

...

Then go to the corresponding row in CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc; there you will have to change the model ID (column 2 I think) and skin (column 7-9 I think). In my non-Nostalrius default patch, take a look at my edited CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc row 918 to see what values to enter in those fields (I can't remember off the top of my head).

Ideally you would want to fix the server side of things because fixing it this way will end up breaking some other creature in the game (i.e. on Nostalrius Swamp Jaguars show up as stags because they share their mob ID with Travel Form)

For WOTLK the bear form is not working, and when shifting to travel form its the same jaguar sound. Thanks for the work!

How is the WotLK bear not working exactly? I can't test it myself since I don't have an account. I'm aware of the travel form making cat noises when shifting, I just don't know where I can change it (probably some dbc somewhere, possibly spell.dbc or similar, but I've been unable to change it)

The patch can't be used in Nostalrius server, the client log out alone after a few seconds, I've tried in 3 different Computers with no luck, the Spik96 patch that uses patch-2.MPQ file works, maybe Nostalrius detects if you have an additional "patch-#.MPQ" file and blocks you from playing.

It could be detection, that's possible, but I know it works for me so it's a little mysterious.

In any case, it's a moot point now since Nost will be going down soon :(

I have tested it on a druid in WOTLK on Warmane's server but I noticed it messes up the faces of characters.
The druid forms all work properly, it just messes the faces up.
It might be because Warmane's client uses WOD models aswell but I don't know.

EDIT: I removed the WoD models and it works fine, I guess WoD and Cohesive models aren't compatible with eachother. :(

Hey! Just letting you know that this can indeed work with the WoD models, for some reason, if you remove the WoD patch, install this one, and run the game...then you close the client and add in the WoD patch it works just fine.

(Don't know why her eyes are black in the SS but...ok go Zolgo I guess.)

Does anyone still have a copy of this?

http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/world-o ... ins-2.html (http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-model-editing/318419-night-elf-druid-reskins-2.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I searched for it everywhere, and can't find it at all!

If anyone has it, please send me a copy to: kristian1996117@yahoo.com
Or post a download link.

Or Leeviathan, if you could update the links, that'd be great, I don't wanna play a druid without this pack, I need it for WotLK, but I think the Cata version works as well for 3.3.5.

Thanks in advance.

hey,

im a big fan of this project. much appreciated that you did it.

One question. I'm not skilled enough to do it by my own.. is it easy possible to backport the white bear/cat models from wotlk to primarly 2.4.3 and also 1.12.1?

Is their any existing mod? Or can you do it/tell me how to do it?

thanks in advance

best regards

Yes indeed, that would be a simple texture swap. You could slap together a patch-4.MPQ with the following structure:

(This would be for Night Elf forms)
Creatures
-----DruidBear
----------DruidBearSkin.blp
-----DruidCat
----------DruidCatSkinBlack.blp

the .BLP image files must keep those names, i.e. putting DruidCatSkinWhite.blp in your patch-4.MPQ and renaming it to DruidCatSkinBlack.blp would give you the white cat texture in game.

Hi, im huge fan of your work! But there is one bug i noticed on the TBC version. There are multiple NPC in outland that are using same model. Spirit raven & Brood of Anzu & this model is used during quest 'As the crow flies' and the bug is that all these npcs appear as a fucking reindeer :D (druid travel form) Its really hilarious.. http://imgur.com/a/sl4hk but now after all the time it gets kinda boring to get attacked by flying reindeers. At first i thought that the server is using bad npc id, but it wouldnt happen for multiple mobs.. Then i thought that it must be connected to the 60% speed fly form which uses very same model (im night elf) as all the npc mentioned above. It might be very possible that currently 60% fly speed form appears as reindeer too. But unfortunately i dont have my wow client aviable now, so i cant test it.
And very rarely i get memory error, i will try to screenshot it nextime. Ocurred like 5 times during 6 months, so not a big deal.

Also is there a way to remove/change travel form sounds to original reindeer sound?
I tried to look into mpq data for the exact sound. I had an idea to mute the sound same way you can mute interface sound and fizzle spell sound. But i found like 6 cat sounds that all sound the same, so after hours of listening to cat roars, trying to distinguish them between each other, i gave up :/

And last question.. would it be easy to change catform textures for the legion one? Not the artifact form, just the super HD texture form. (i mean easy like with wotlk forms as someone requested)

If you need server to test on, you can try insta 70 server Smolderforge.com

Hi. I've been recently trying to get this mod to work but to no success :(. At first I tried the 3.3.5 version on an unmodded LK client to no effect (meaning the installed mod had absolutely no effect of any kind on the game). Just today I installed a 1.12 client and tried every version of the mod including the Default, Nost Default, and the individual druid forms again to no success. I'm confident I'm installing the mod correctly as I've done it a lot recently but I'm still kind of new to it so I could be making a mistake. Can anyone confirm that a fresh download of this mod works on a 1.12 or 3.3.5 client?

I can't update update the initial post at the moment [EDIT: initial post is now edited], but have some significant updates to share.

1.) I've updated the patch to include Legion bear and cat forms. I made several tweaks to the models especially improvements to the bear eyes (i.e. increased texture resolution and glowing NE bear eyes)
2.) Fixed all sound effects (e.g. bear uses claw sound rather than weapon sound on attack) as well as occasional shapeshift emote noises for travel form
3.) Improved Legion Moonkin model so that vertex weights on upper back no longer cause awkward overlapping on various animations (i.e. /dance)

Download [EDIT: download added to initial post]

Notes:
I've removed BC [EDIT: BC version is back] and WOTLK versions for now until I can properly test them.
Included is a text file with all dbc edits--useful for combining with other patches (or fixing stag form on Nost/Elysium since it uses incorrect display ID's forTravel Form)

Yeah the death animation isn't quite right, the original ent model shows/hides different submeshes depending on the animation being played...or something like that. I decided to ignore all of that since druid forms are cancelled upon death and you don't actually see their animation. I would need to put in quite a bit more work to get the death animation working and have it be a suitable NPC model.

One way: Install both of our mods then create your own mod which just contains a merge of our CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc files and install that on top of everything. The info.txt file included with my mod has a list of all the DBC edits I've made (it's not very many) to make that easier.

One way: Install both of our mods then create your own mod which just contains a merge of our CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc files and install that on top of everything. The info.txt file included with my mod has a list of all the DBC edits I've made (it's not very many) to make that easier.

This is just mumbo-jumbo for about 99% of the users on this Forum.

Can you just make the Tree of Life Form compatible with Finsternis' Legion Creature Models and his WoD models? :3

Finsternis' won't make an optional Tree of Life form download because he "doesn't like it" so we're kinda screwed there.

Hey leeviathan,

These are fantastic! Thank you so much for converting them over to TBC.

Any chance you could provide an option to allow travel form to be Cheetah form?

Thanks for your hard work.

Hello,
do you think you could make a separate version of the new bear form for the MoP?

Does 6 months count as "soon"? Updated to fix the lynx models + added the new BfA Druid Bear model. The new BfA bear model has the new more upright animations but also came with numerous bizarre problems and oversights that I fixed; like a cleft palette and incorrect render-flags on the NE version's eyes.

Hi, how can I use this mod with the one from Finsternis?

I haven't tried mixing and matching or building my own yet, but with the popularity of the models from Fisternis, it should be a requirement for your a character mod to work with it.

Hi, good work :). I use this mod together with your WoD character models for 2.4.3 and I have WoW errors when I use Tree of Life and the night elf cat form. Will you do it to work together without errors? :'(

Hi, really good job. But Travel Form doesn't change on Nightbane. It's still a cat, but with stag sounds. Looks like they use different model id for travel form.

I suspect you haven't installed the compatibility patch, or haven't installed it correctly; my WoD Character Models mod comes packed with a compatibility patch and instructions. In the info.txt file, under "Installation:"

Optional: Copy COHESIVEDRUIDFORMSMERGE_patch-5.MPQ to your "Data" folder, rename to patch-#.MPQ where # is a higher number than both Cohesive Druid Forms and WoD Character Models patches.
-Makes this mod compatible with my "Cohesive Druid Forms" mod by merging the changes made to CreatureModelData.dbc.

Hello, I'm using the esES client with your Playable Characters mod without issues but with this one I lost the names and descriptions of all my spells. Can that be fixed? I really want to use this. Thank you.

PD: My client is 3.3.5a

PD2: It's caused by the spells modifications, I erased the ".dbc" of the spells and now the models are working without killing my spells. But if you can fix that it would be perfect.

PD3: It's crashing now, so it doesn't work for me after all. :(

I've since added non-english versions. The only major difference is in the non-english versions you'll get cat sounds when transforming into Stag form.

So I did the comparison of form/hair colors and there seems to be missing one, third from the top from your picture (the = one).

Edit: Didn't check females, they have the missing color.

Jirba: Thank you for your diligent report. I think in this case it's just bad server scripting. I've noticed most private servers (including Warmane) don't get the colors right for druid forms. Have you tried using an unmodified client to see if the problem remains?

Tested on other wotlk realms. So the bear form color second from bottom is exactly the same as the third from the bottom (purple hair) - meaning: it looks as if you had purple hair not the bright green hair: https://imgur.com/a/c0csrSZ
So the top left bear form color is missing

Thats why there is no variation of this "purple" bear color, which is oddly the only color for bear on TBC realm:

I don't think it is a server side problem, check it out your yourself. The Hair colors that should look like the "purple" bear color are one above and one below the white hair variation at the barber.

Hey,

At first let me say, that it's amazing work. The models are really nice.

I just stumbled upon an error though. When I was playing outside of the city it was fine. But just when I encountered an NPC its textures were all messed up. I confirmed it to be case with all NPCs. Is there any way to fix it?

I am playing ont WotLK 3.3.5a

All of them. I  teleported to Darnassus, every NPC with no exception.

I have a crash to desktop when I'm in Stormwind.
When I remove the L patch from data folder, the issue is gone.
The only druid I could find around was one in white cat form.
Could that be causing it?
Thanks

The only other mod I use are yours npc and char models.
