Title: [QUESTION] WoD Login screen BLP files location?
Post by: Joxus on September 01, 2014, 05:05:17 pm
I'm currently using CASCExplorer on the WoD Beta but I can't find the login screen files in the Interface > Glues > Models folder (it has the new one though in the client). Are these hidden or something?

Hello, unless you create a listfile with the names of the files they will not appear, simple as that.

Awesome, found an updated one and got the files now, wish I could give some rep because really helped me out. :P

Gotta bump this though since the login screen is not working. I tried converting the WoD M2's/skin files with CatatoLkM2.exe, but I'm still getting a green background.

Not sure if the exe is still suited for WoD but there's only 1 M2 and 1 skin file (2 counting the lowbandwith version) and the original WOTLK screen had 1 M2 and 3 skin files.. is this a problem? Only changing the M2/skin files to UI_MainMenu_Northrend.m2 and UI_MainMenu_Northrend00.skin and adding these with BLP's in the UI_MainMenu_Northrend should be enough right?

number of skin files depends on the m2 file. a green model does not mean that skin files are missing. it seems like you did not extract all textures.

I recommend checking the m2 file and compare to the filelist and make sure all the textures are there if not add the missing ones to the filelist.

I checked the textures with PyModelEditor, and found that all 47 were in the listfile. I don't know for sure if the CataToLKM2 still does the job, not too sure how to edit M2's manually to work for 3.3.5a. I suppose I can't just drag and drop the Draenor files in the UI_MainMenu_Northrend without changing the M2/Skin filenames? I used a vanilla login screen before and it had some extra skin files compared to the original UI_MainMenu (vanilla) and it also had some WOTLK login screen files in the same folder (Frost_Wurm stuff.blp).

Any ideas on this?

Edit m2 with 010.

010 is a very powerful tool.

Awesome, got the login screen. How do I edit the angle/distance of view though? It's very zoomed in for some reason.

Alright, it's zoomed out now but that also showed the particles that were messed up coming out of the portal, how do I fix particles? I remember AnthonysToolbox having a particle script and I even had it on my PC but I can't find it atm. No clue how to manually fix it to work for WOTLK.

The problem with the particles is that the energy-ish light coming out of the portal has straight lines on the edges similar to a lot of high-particle mounts converted to 3.3.5a like the Fire Hawks. There are too many particles coming out anyway.

That doesn't fix the particles it just removes them which you can do by hand the script was just for mas removal.

Would be better just to fix the particles they look pretty nice, I just fixed all the particles for the GoblinHotRod on 3.3.5a fully working.

It doesn't have any particle emitters it seems, the nParticleEmitters is 0 and the ofsParticleEmitters is 0h. Earlier I somehow could expand a struct called struct Particle but I don't see it anymore, not sure what I did to show it. But what would this problem be then? http://imgur.com/pZbl54f as you can see it has straight lines on right of the portal visual and in the sky on the left.

That looks likely to be a renderflag issue.

I just found a similiar problem on modcraft http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1956 so I'll look into that aswell, since it wasn't the RenderFlags on there.

I tried some combinations with the renderflags, but litteraly nothing changed? It originally had 61 at the uint nRenderFlags, so it had 61 flags in the structure, since I don't know the right combination or even the right values.. would I have to do endless testing of random combinations or something?

I tried looking into the shaders but I have no idea where they are, I used a skin template on the skin file and couldn't find anything there either about shaders.

What I'm doing is really a long shot for fixing this I guess, but isn't there a more concrete way of finding the problem? I probably just lack the experience to recognize where the problem is. <_<

Nobody knows exactly what the issue is? I doubt there is a clear answer, but if it has to do with the RenderFlags.. there are 56 of them. I don't know what the specific RenderFlags do so I have absolutely no idea which combinations should be used, neither how many RenderFlags I would have to remove/add since like I said there are 56.

Like I posted above if it has to do with the shader when I look in the skin file at the TextureUnit all I see is uint16 flags2 > uint16 order > uint16 submesh > uint16 submesh2 and on the wowdev wiki it says Flags > shader_id, submeshindex, submeshindex2 so not sure where I'd look for that.

Maybe it's neither of these things, but if anyone knows how to make it look a little better at the least I'd appreciate it, even if that would mean removing some things. Just don't want it to look bugged.

It's a renderflag issue, if you want you can upload the files and I'll take a look at them.

Alright here you go, there's the unedited ui_mainmenu_warlords m2/skin and the northrend one is converted with CatatoLkm2. The camera is messed up in 3.3.5a so just change the fov to 2 in the camera struct.

I decided to use my own files from my own extractions and messed around with the accountlogin.xml a bit.

Alright so it still needs a lot of work and some fixing on some textures that aren't supported on wotlk like the bush on the bottom left also some meshes need some touching up but this is what I got at the moment.

WoD screenshot(http://i.imgur.com/p5gsD7O.jpg)

WotLK screenshot(http://i.imgur.com/AYQsCVg.jpg)

So yeah it still needs more tweaking.

I'll keep working on it later since I did break some things like the moon but easy fix.

P.S.

I changed the camera to 2.087 instead of 2 so it looks more like the WoD camera.

Looking good mate! Did you just change the RenderFlags or were there other problems? Would be nice to know how to do this myself, but if it's too much too explain that's fine. :P

I knew the value 2 wasn't spot on, was just the first number I tried and it looked decent enough lol I doubt it can be a perfect replica in WOTLK.

Never doubt, if you got the know how it can always be done.

This may not be my area of expertise but I know how to get around.

I wish the login screen was a wmo would be faster to fix.

Yeah you're right, this is not my area of expertise either soft said and considering the crazy stuff you see on here I'm willing to believe that.

And blender huh? I thought that was only useful for custom models. Guess I just found the tip of the iceberg, anyway keep it up.
