It has been long since i downloaded the patches, maybe the version i have is old  :P

What i'm saying i want to do with the patch is basically what you can see in this video:

Old character model with the new animation

That's too bad  :(
I looked up that they're tied to the m2 files, is it too complicated to swap these animations opening those files? I'd be willing to do it myself if you can give me a short explanation of how it's done

So it's not possible to have new animations without the new models?  :'(
But if it isn't, why do NPCs have the new animations while still having the old models?  :o

Is there any way to have a file that modifies only the model animations?, i see your patch (amazing work btw) has no NPCs and playing with it i saw NPCs still use the new animations with the old models, and i kinda want to try that myself.

Another thing, though a really small one, player male Night Elfs use a very jumpy walking animation, a different one from NPC Night Elfs, you can see the difference here:
Is there anyway to put the NPC animation on the player characters? (To clarify: both animations are already in your patch, it's just players use the 'Live' one and NPCs use the 'PTR' one)

Your great work has certainly breathed new life into this game  ;D ;D

Miscellaneous / [REQUEST] M2 Files
« on: January 06, 2017, 09:10:13 pm »
Good day to all

I have been trying to work on a project about giving 3.3.5a trolls normal feet (http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=10963) but i'm stuck on step 1: acquiring the M2 models to turn them into M2i and modifying them in Blender. I have downloaded and tried with multiple M2 files obtained from WoD models but haven't been able to get them and i don't know what i'm doing wrong  :(

So my request is if somebody could please provide me with the m2 files themselves or a place where i could get them so that i could finally continue with this project, i'm using M2Mod Redux 4.6.1 and MyWarcraftStudio/WinMPQ to extract M2 files/Create MPQs

Thank you for your time

UPDATE:

I downloaded the wod character models on a patch featured in this post:
viewtopic.php?f=93&t=10800

I figured since it says "No NPC" the old model would be the troll NPC model in there, so i took out the troll NPC model and the character model with WinMPQ along with all their .skin files and got this error when i tried to use m2mod:

I'm completely at a loss as to what to do now  :|  the image says "TrollMaleNPC" but the error persists when doing it with the Troll Male character model too

Is there a file somewhere with the wod & old models m2 files to download? i can't seem to find anything on google

Sorry if maybe i'm too thick to understand what you mean, but it sounds as if you're telling me to modify the wod model then put that in the game and that's not what i want  :|  what i'm trying to do is modify this part right here:

I want to modify this model to get rid of this crevice so that it looks like an actual shoe, but keeping the old wotlk model, is it possible?

Again sorry if maybe i'm wasting your time and thank you for your amazing patience

May I ask what dbc you modified to make the textures cover the feet?

ChrRaces.dbc found in patch-3.mpq in the DBCFiles folder
I can upload and post the patch file with the textures changed here if you want it, it weighs something like 20kb

4.6.1. Uses WoD models so get them from there

But i'm not looking for WoD models, i'm playing wotlk so i'm using the old models. What version should i use then?

Thanks

Hello again and thank you for your swift responses

I have accessed the MPQ file "patch-3" (as it is the last one that loads it should be the one i take the files from,  right?) and taken out the Troll Male m2 file as well as all the skin files that were there too, like this:

I also downloaded M2Mod Redux 4.6.1 which looks like this:

Now the problem is when i hit "Go!" an error appears along the lines of  "Out of control exception" that gives me the option of either "Continue" (The program gets stuck in the 'working' phase) or straight out close the program and won't let me turn the m2 file into m2i

What can i do?

Thanks again for your help

Sorry, i couldn't find any program called "MXRex", is this something done in Blender? I found out that you can export models using WoWModelViewer, could i do it this way too?
