Title: [RELEASE] Draenor Map (6.0.2) For WoW 3.3.5a

Hey yall! I decided to give out my Draenor Map for 3.3.5a!! The Map is from Revision 18918, 6.0.2 BETA.  I'm doing this video on a clean WoTLK Install and Server, so if you have modified data already, hopefully you can figure out how to get this working for your end.

Notes: As most of you should know, All map data from patch 5.3.0 onwards have 64bit Hole data instead of 32bit, What that means is Entrances to Caves or Holes in the ground for WMO Buildings that go underground will not be usable.  This is a limitation of using the older client(s). Also there are various new slime/lava/fog layers that do not exist in WOTLK, so I defaulted them to ocean to avoid crashing the client, that's why in some places you'll see Water over a slime or lava area.

--Something I forgot to mention in the video is that Draenor may try to use more memory than normally possible for the default Wow Executable(~1.8gbytes), So you'll need to patch your wow.exe to avoid Out of Memory issues, Thanks goes to Valkryst(Modcraft User) for this tip!!

[Tutorial] How to get my Ported Maps to work in Noggit!



I was trying to figure out how to get the adts working in Noggit, some 22 hours later, I stumbled into a solution, not a really good one but it's enough to get the job done so we can knock out holes in the ADTs for Cave entrances and some WMO Buildings that go underground.

So after 22 hours of tinkering and banging my head on the wall, I finally, though more like Accidentally figured out a ghetto way of getting my Draenor map and possibly my other maps(Cata/MoP) to work as well.

NOTES: Not all ADTs will work because not all WMOs are compatible with Noggit, until I or someone else figures out how to convert wmos so that noggit doesn't crash, it'll be some time we'll be able to noggit the entire maps.

It's cool that you got it working decently, but based on the screenshots it's clear that the gap between clients is getting pretty huge. We won't be able to ride on 3.3.5 for very much longer.

Yeah, but hey look on the bright side, Kaev and cromon's tool is coming along nicely, I wouldn't mind buying it from them if they went that route with it.

But in other news, that's another reason why I started researching how to up port the stuff we make with current tools for wotlk to the newer clients.  Though so far I've only done whatever maps people have lent me and m2's made with Garthog's OBJtoM2 Tool for weapons and such.

Here's an example, if I cut out a hole out of this area, it makes the opening to the wmo accessable, but since  wotlk cuts in a 8x8 grid as opposed to WoD's 16x16, I notch out a rather huge hole above it as well.

Most people would say something like, Oh that's fine, I'll just cover it up with a big rock or something... BUT a lot of the times, the exceeding cut out areas are HUGE and would require a lot of ugly clumping of game objects to cover up.  Since a lot of the new cave entrances are quite small now.

I honestly couldn't tell ya since I don't have the program anymore and since we can't register it anymore either, there's no more trial period for me.  But I reckon you could go the hardway with things and just load the up in wow and use 3D Ripper DX or something to pul it that way.

Sure 3D Ripper DX will pull the 3D data in a strangely streteched out fashion and usually always rotated in a strange manner, but if you're proficient with your 3D program, it shouldn't be too difficult to set the scaling/reotation of the vertices back to normal.

You can make machinima tool disable rendering various things like the terrrain and such so that when 3D Ripper DX goes to work, it only gets what you're after and not everything that's on the map normally.

Thought i'd point out that the Mac Patched WoW client uploaded by iindigo reads this map fine. You can find it in my guide in the tutorials section.

About WMOs.. Incase you didn't know, Some WMOs have odd subfiles who are not compatible with 3.3.5.
They're usually a tiny file roughly 1-10kb.

Normal WMO subfiles are usually 300-400

Simply copy one of the other subfiles and rename it to match the original.

To puit an example:

You have house.wmo from WOD that crashes the game. You fixed the materials and SBOM yet it still crashes.
You look at the subfiles.. You have 3 in this case.

house_000.wmo
house_001.wmo
house_002.wmo

The first two are 300 kb, the last one is 8.
Delete house 002 and copy house_001 and rename it house_002

Most of the times this renders the wmo fully functional in 3.3.5
There are exception though, like the new Moonwell.

I cant fix that one yet.

what is the wmo name of the new Moonwell?  I will look at it for you :) ... All of the wmos on my draenor patch work and do not crash the game and I did not do the clone method as you mentioned, although they may not all render properly because It is too much work and time consuming to check every single wmo one by one.

The one I did 2 weeks ago of the 6.1.0 PTR 19551 has just about all the wmo's looking as correct as possible, I'm not working on this BETA 6.0.2 one anymore, that's why I gave it out as Release :).

That said, things may look nice in Wow.... noggit on the otherhand, still gotta eventually look into that, there's no reason for it since Neo will replace any and all of that anyway, but it's nice to have the knowledge and understanding I think. :)

The only moonwell I can find in the Draenor folder is called 6SM_NightElf_MoonWell_01.wmo and it only has one group, a _000,  and it looks like this ingame:

It appears twice in the Draenor map, so I took pictures of where it spawns just for the hell of it, I did of both ENB on and ENB off XD.

For fixing it, I just took out the SBOM out of the group file, the _000 file. and on the root file, I just modified the flag of the textures it used from 13 to 6, three of them used 13 and wotlk can only use up to 6, wotlk doesn't have any other blend type that will show it properly, so I usually either use 6 or 1, on some wmos, sometimes 6 will make something render out black, so then I switch it to 1 or 0.

See those 0x1, 0x4, 0x8 ?.. that's 13, if you don't change them, a game crash insues.   I've not looked into why sometimes having 6 makes things render black yet, there's not a high enough occurence of the issue to make me look into it since it's only a very small amount that does that, so it's not too much of a time waster to fix them by hand.

Yes but you have to go on live server and use packet sniffer to get data for what game objects the server has spawned in them. Just like how private servers, GM and Admins can spawn game objects, the same is true for Live server as well. Not everything is contained in the WMO or ADT files.

You should learn more so you can help with figuring this out. I am the only person that is trying to check this, it is hard for one man to do alone, it get easier if others try and help too. :)

Noggit is a 32bit program so it can only use up to 2gb of RAM, with the 4gb patch(thanks to Valkryst for telling me about it) it can make noggit use up to 4gb of memory.  HOWEVER that also means that when it does get up to 4gb, the program will crash and close out.  Noggit wasn't intended for working on a map with as much stuff going on as Draenor and or for trying to load entire continents at a time, it's mainly meant for building custom maps and you usually only work on specific regions at a time, not an entire map.

So It may be best if you waited for Neo to become more everyone friendly since they are using a different algorithm to store and render data which takes up less memory among other things.

Here is a video of Draenor crashing when I get to the 4GB limit, I also do not have Doodads(m2) rendering so to show more map, because if M2 load, I get to 4gb much faster.

thx phillip but that doesnt works for me when i desable every models, noggit just crash on map texture laoding

just for example, my last crash is at ~1 500 000 k, not 2 gb or 4

"(errorHandling.h:64): [Error] There was an exception of type "SIGSEGV"
"Invalid storage access; most frequently caused by attempting to store some value in an object pointed to by a bad pointer. (Segment violation.)"."

The map I'm using in my video is different from the one I released here. The one I released used Will's ADT Converter( viewtopic.php?f=93&t=4339 (http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=4339" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) ) which leaves a lot of things broken, which isn't his fault since his main goal wasn't for the maps to work in Noggit but only to work ingame. My converter is not leecher or beginner friendly right now. I'm only sharing it with people that I feel are up to snuff with the data types involved in Map ADTs and WMOs and can help me further my study/research by bringing in new data, not simply telling me something crashes after conversion.  

The other reason why Noggit crashes has to do with the new and kind of odd water data, WMOs are different after Cataclysm, meaning MoP and WoD WMOs got some some new stuff in them that makes it crash noggit(could just do a small edit to the noggit source to fix that issue, or modify wmos, either way works). and the overall way how Will's Converter sets up various chunks of data is in a really straight forward manner instead of splicing it in the usual order that blizzard ADTs are set in which isn't a big problem until you get to Huge maps like Pandaria, Draenor, MoP Kalimdor, MoP EasternKingdoms.
