[SOLVED] [Newbie Problem with Adding a new Continent]
« on: March 24, 2013, 04:35:24 pm »
First of all, Hello Forum! :)

And now back to work,
I seem to be stuck while adding new .ADT's and all its related stuff.
I followed the great Tutorial by Eluo, added .ADT's , modified the Table etc..
But I am now stuck on the point of adding those to the Game.
I understood that I propably have to add them to a new patch.MPQ (in this case patch-4.MPQ) AND into the common-2.MPQ because of the way Noggit opens those..( I Hope this was right).
But I have my difficulties understanding if this is right and how I put them inside..
Whenever I create a new MPQ and add all my .ADT's , the patch only is about 1.53MB but all those 82 ADT's are about 37MB.

I would appreciate it if someone could explain it once for dummies on how to do it.
Note: I tried to follow Jack's MPQ Tutorial but I still think im doing stuff wrong when creating a new Patch.MPQ...
I appreciate every Help I could get, no matter if here on the Forum or on Skype. (Don't have TeamViewer though).

Looking forward to all your Replies - Delolas.

Well this sounds definetly wrong ;) 1,53mb is about the size of one adt. Are you sure that you added all of them? Maybe attach your MPQ so we can have a closer look at it.

For your question concerning common-2.MPQ and patch-4.MPQ. You can somehow manage that noggit also "reads" your own patchs (in the config file or such. Just look up in the noggit Manual or Wiki).

WoW itself always takes the data from the newest patch. By this we can override blizzards content located in common.MPQ until patch-3.MPQ by creating our own patch-4.MPQ. If you modify blizzard´s mpq always make a backup because you could blow up the whole thing :P

Yip thats what I ment it seems very wrong.
But in MPQEdit he shows all of them..
About that 0-9 and A-Z patch Hirachy, I already know that, thats the reason I called it patch-4.MPQ since patch-3.MPQ is default the latest patch by blizzard..
About Noggit reading patches, going to check this out! Thats kind of a big hint for me aswell..

Note: I seem to not be able to post a DL link for the patch.MPQ.
Dropbox doesnt work and Google Drive neither.
He says something about links or references to  spam words O.O?
Any Website I can Upload it to that is not filtered out by spam word filter?

Noggit loads all patch-0 till -9 and -a till -y. Z dont get loaded to be able to add a patch noggit ignores.

Never edit existing MPQs.

Also you dont need mpqs for noggit. You can just set a project path and locate all yout modded files there. Noggit will load them after all MPQs. Also you can just pack this folder tehn with MPQEdit to patch-4.MPQ.

Oh ok, definitely have to check out the Noggit Wiki (didnt knew there was one to begin with before Shruik's post, hehe)

Yeaht thats what I have been doing. But as Stated the MPQ then only has about 1.6MB which is odd since extracted they have easily 37MB..
Ok so I will post a new Post here if another Problem comes up.
Going to read my way through the Noggit Wiki then on how to add extracted files etc.
Thanks for pointing that out :)!

Thats why we will go in in english.

It could be that you  MPQ is such smale, because MPQ can also compressed files if selected. If I do an uncompressed MPQ and pack it with 7zip the size get from 1,16 GB to 170 mb. So if your adts are all nearly the same, what ofte happens if you start your map, then it is possible to have only around 2mb.

To see if you did all right, open the MPQ with MPQ edit and expand the tree structure on the left. Then make an image and add to the post as atachment.

Ok in the Attachment is the .MPQ file's screenshot of the Treepath.
Treepath.jpg[/attachment:2hx359ex]
Should I add the world.DBC into the same MPQ aswell?
And yes there are all Empty (not eddited and the same)
So that could be the reason why it is so small...
Didn't believe it could compress it THAT much..
Listfile and Attribute File are ofc at the start of the File.

Note:
In the Wiki I only found out how to modifie the Config File.
"#Edit this to your Project-Directory and uncomment if you want to use it!
ProjectPath = C:UsersTHREEDIAGRAMDesktopWoW ProjektsWarcraft"
In the Folder Warcraft is a Folder Structure like this:
TreePathOfProjectsFolder.jpg[/attachment:2hx359ex]
As you can see my Map.dbc is right in the First Folder.
If you follow the Treepath up to Safe Havens there are all my .ADT's and the .WDT.
Somehow Noggit does not see it.

My Warcraft Directory is
"Path = C:UsersTHREEDIAGRAMDesktopWoW 3.3.5a for Noggit3World of Warcraft"
So it points to the Folder with WoW.exe etc.

Try again without any space in the name of the  files and inside the DBC.

SaveHaven_10_10.adt

NOT

Save Haven _10_10.adt

Done it without them now, and your right it hasent changed anything.
Furthermore, where do I put in the Map.dbc file?
I took it out of patch-deDE-3.MPQ.
So do I have to create a new patch-deDE-4.MPQ and put in the new Maps.dbc AND create a new patch-4.MPQ for the .ADT's and the .WDT?

And Noggit still refuses to see the World in the Continents Tab even though I pointed the "Project-Directory" to the folder which starts its Pathtree like the .MPQ's have it.

(Phew I think the beginning of getting everything to work is the hardest part hehe)

Edit1: Created a new patch-deDE-4.MPQ and insterted the Map.dbc file in there.
Still Noggit refuses to show the Continent.

Edit2: I think I will try everything once more with a Fres Start.
Edit3: Fuuuuuuu I've been so dumb!
It works now :D! Thanks to everybode, I total misread the part where it says
Quote from: "Tutorial"
Now just take the adts and the wdt files and put them in to the wow folder like this:
For adts and wdt files:
wowfolderworldmapsyour awsome instance name
I thought It was refering to the Folder Structure of the Patch and not the Normal WoW Folder.
Also I had to point my
"ProjectPath"
To the default WoW Folder for him to be able to read the Map.dbc and extracted Files.
It looks now like this "ProjectPath = C:UsersTHREEDIAGRAMDesktopWoW 3.3.5a for Noggit3World of Warcraft".... I guess I can continue and try to add this with a patch-4.MPQ to my Client and then to the Server.

The project folder dont have to be and also should not located in the wow folder.
