These are great topics I think they are nice because they take all the useful tutorials and put them in one place for people that need help. Great work Steff!

Could it be that they are so perfect that you all have no negativ points ;)

Thanks all!

Sometimes, some details are missing (I speak for the 03, the setup of your server), but nothing serious ^^

Great tutorial, the french community will like it !

Then tell me the details so i can fix it. It should be as easy as possible to understand.
Also if someone speek the langauge of the translations test also them and tell the translators if some point is not understandebel. And if this point is also in the en version also post it.

Some users use Mangos, all of them ignore mangos and trinitycore are equal, if they follow the tutorial without using the server contained in the pack, they will be lost :)

I know this is very twisted but I'm not a normal man :D

Well, I disagree. I find Trinity way easier to modify and it's cleaner for the most part.

Concerning the tutorial:
I think it's been well done, as said before, but I can't exactly test it.
Title: Re: FEEDBACK
Post by: hyakkimaru on February 23, 2013, 01:02:00 pm
Sorry, I said : it's equal in commands, but some users ignore it ^^

But Trinity is the best emulator now :)
Title: Re: FEEDBACK
Post by: Steff on February 23, 2013, 05:17:49 pm
Yes but this is a tutorial to learn the stuff. So you can use trinity and switch to mangos if you like.
I dont use mangos because I was 2 times in the IRC asking stuff and there where only stupid not gentel answers. What never happend to me at trinity. You cant write a beginners tutorial for all destinations :)

Also the differences will not be to big so people can try to fix it. Till now there is no part of the tutorial that creat new stuff for server. So perhaps we can if i ge to the creat new parts add blocks for the different servers a user of this server will bring into the tutorial.

I'll post some feedback as I work through the series...

I quitted WoW modding and WoW in general for a while, but now I started again because it's really fascinating.

The Tutorials helped me to get an quick overview of all the things again (German Translation).
(Especially Part 2 - a really practical Environment).

But I think I found an Error in Part 2 -> The extraction settings showed in Picture
(http://modcraft.io/tutorial_images/Extraction_options.jpg)

"Delete all existing files in the target directory", I think you should not set this option on all MPQ-Archives. If you do, you will have at the end only the content of  "patch-enUS-3.MPQ" in the ClientFiles Folder.

Also a question, is everyone allowed to continue the translation of the tutorials or only the Member who translated the first parts? I could help translating into german ;)

You are right. I will fix it :)
Title: Re: FEEDBACK

So first a big thank you! ^.^

But i Have some Questions 1 ist taht now a problem when i did it with "Delete all existing files in the target directory"?

Ok then i have some points to correct the tut:
(I want to install it in C)

1. @ 01 I think i should be said clear that only the things in the wow folder and not the wow folder should be copied

2. @03 >> Start the following files.

F:WoWModdingTrinityServerxamppmysql_start.bat
F:WoWModdingTrinityServerServerauthserver.exe
F:WoWModdingTrinityServerServerworldserver.exe

This dont work for me

Problem with mysql_start there is a "Verknüpfung" dont know this in english xD in the main folder this one is only usable for F so i had to edit but now if i start without admin it says:

Mysql is trying to start
Please wait...
MySQL is starting with mysqlbinmy.ini (console)

if i start as Admin it says:

Mysql is trying to start
Please wait...
MySQL is starting with mysqlbinmy.ini (console)
The System can  not find the path (In german: Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden)

MySQl could not be started

If I start authserver.exe or worldserver.exe
It says the programm couldnt start properly (0x000007b)

And this is also the point i cant continue

edit: I checked everything i have the same problem with 01setup_xampp (like mysql_start)

echo ################################# START XAMPP TEST SECTION #################################
[XAMPP]: Test php.exe with phpphp.exe -n -d output_buffering=0 --version ...
phpphp.exe -n -d output_buffering=0 --version
could not find path

 [ERROR]: Test php.exe failed !!!
[ERROR]: Perhaps the Microsoft C++ 2008 runtime package is not installed.
[ERROR]: Please try to install the MS VC++ 2008 Redistributable Package from the Mircrosoft page first
[ERROR]: [Her should be the dl link but i cant post it]
################################# END XAMPP TEST SECTION ###################################

and i have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) installed just to say

First also thank you for your feedback :)

Yes because you now have onlythe last MPQ inside your ClientFiles folder. And not all wow files.
You need to doit again without this option. :(

Copy the content of a clean WoW 335a game client folder into the both client folders.

Any idea how I can say this more clear?

For the server stuff I have to revisit the files.
But if the shortcut in main folder dont work, just use the MySQL start bat inside the xampp folder.

Ok so i will redo it

hmm yeah i think i had there some probs because it resets modelviewer after one failes try i worked after an hour of troubles and confusion xDxD

Its the same if i start the .bat without a "Verknüpfung" (tried this before) i there a simple solution or do i have to create a F partition? @.@
Title: Re: FEEDBACK
Post by: Steff on July 09, 2013, 12:07:28 am
No the Verknüpfung is justa link of the bat in the subfolder. Just delete it and creat your own.Its only there to not open the subfolder.

Hi, i was starting to follow along but i can't seem to find this "modding tools pack" i keep reading in various places. I have checked all over the forums in multiple tutorial area's but i cant find it?

Quote
We will have to edit DBCs during many tasks of modding. Perhaps just have a look at them to get a feeling and an overview what they are.

>> Open the MyDBCEditor from

F:WoWModdingToolsMyDbcEditorMyDbcEditor.exe

Where should i be getting this starter pack of mod tools from to follow the tutorials?

Feedback:

When opening noggit, I had a missing MSVCP110.dll. I downloaded the visual studio runtime that was linked on the manual (wiki/index.php5?title=Noggit_user_manual (http://modcraft.io/wiki/index.php5?title=Noggit_user_manual" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)) but it wouldn't install because I already had a newer version.

From what I know, it is better to install the whole visual studio than to just replace the single dll so I didn't do that. The internet says that this dll is in fact in the 2012 visual studio, not 2010 (though it says 2010 on the guide*).

So I downloaded visualC++2012. But I already had it. Then I realized that I needed the x84 32bit version. After I downloaded that, everything worked perfectly.

Suggestions:
1. Let it be known on the manual that the latest visualC++ is needed, and that it must be the x86 (32-bit) version. If a link is provided, maybe warn that it may not be the latest version anymore.

2. This is a minor one. On the noggit.conf, it reads

#Edit this to your WoWFile!!!
Path = E:WoW 3.3.5

I was a bit unsure at first whether I was supposed to edit it to my WoWFile (E:WoW 3.3.5WoW.exe) or the WoW folder path (E:WoW 3.3.5) because the comment says the file but the path example is the folder. I did the folder and it worked fine, but I would recommend changing it to

#Edit this to your WoW Folder Path!! With  also at the end, and NEVER /
Path = E:WoW 3.3.5

These suggestions might decrease the number of new players asking for help & make more people join the community cause the setup is easier.
Title: Re: FEEDBACK

Read me and noggit not matching is due to different people doing it and doing it for different versions.

I will update the pack and include the DLL. Thanks for this

If you follow the tutorial right, you have no need to edit the config file. Because in part 2 we setup the modding environment and copy wow 2 times over to predefined folders inside WoWModding FOlder called Client335aNoggit and Client 335aTest.

There should be separate sections for different tutorials. It seems as if almost all of the ones here focus on Noggit even though the sub forum title makes it seems as if more would be taught.
