We have established that there is a cult in Maruum that may work as a main antagonist.
So, let's discuss this cult.
I feel that, as one of Maruum's main villains, the cult should be a very present antagonist - interfering in the affairs of others, causing havoc and discord to achieve their own desires.
They already have a desire to harvest Marcharia Mushrooms for reasons unknown. The mushrooms have qualities that can be used in curses that cause instant death. Perhaps, as is speculated at the end of one of the quests, they are using it for their assassins.
We should also decide who their leader is and work on character designs for this person.

So, it's a cult an in the Wiki it's said, that this cult has a religion (what is just normal for a cult).
Now, how this religion looks like, as they want to
- get members
- rule the world
- be evil.
Are there first ideas?
I would, if there are 3 mages, ruleing this cult, change the religion a little to every of them, just to make it more interesting (:

I had in mind that the 3 give themself the role of the heigest leaders of the cult. They dont let themself be goods but some imaginational astral creature. More likely a bad demon like good:) But whith great wisdom and the right way for us all ... :)
The Idea is out of the Wheel of time. A bad demon in Human form there went into an existing cult and use the members for own tasks. And such a mass movement can have an oppression.
It need teh following defined
The height good or goods. Perhaps more are also possible :)
The rank strukture and the titles of the cult. Should be nothing existing like inquisitor or so. I think own words give the world more the feeling to be real.
The rituals. Who to get in how to went up. Perhaps they are all must do tasks during theirs memberschip to proof themself.
During world build we can also integrate ritual places for them and also order settlements.

But please words that are understandable and not just a mass of letters like "Fanoran" or such. That works for world-names and continents.
Always remember the rule: Fantasy worlds are allowed to have 5 own words (exept the lord of the rings). If there are more, nobody will remember them and care anyhow.
"Leader of the blood", "The woven", or something like that would be acceptable names, it think (:
But nobody wants to know about the group of the "Flaoranoran", which are leaded by the "Irishnita" who is the medium of the god "Zoragoarn" (okay, for gods names, it would be rather agreeble) who talks to him through the ritual of the "Balbuzargan".

Therefore it would be cool to have some "symbols" or themes. Like DKs got blood, ice and necromancy, in age of conan it's a snake-cult, a plaque-cult in WC3, deamons are often related to the seven sins, etc.
If we wanted to have such "directions" for the mages, we had only three to choose, so... I don't know. Somehow I think, it would make them deeper characters, but with only 3 mages, the choice had to be good or there had to be sub-cults (:
