Greetings, Modcraft!
In 2010, there was a server known as Chronicles of Azeroth, home of the works of Sirfranc, and some of the most brilliant roleplayers in WoW. The server rivaled some of the greatest roleplaying servers out there on initial release, though it fell short over time, as Sirfranc, the owner and admin was too busy to handle the responsibilities, upon the release of Echoes of the Past, Chronicles of Azeroth closed.
It has been nearly three years since its glory days, and I am here to tell you, Chronicles of Azeroth is returning! Sirfranc has given me permission to use his work to begin his server anew, Though he won't play a big part in it, he will drop in now and then.
What does this mean?
If you were a player on Chronicles of Azeroth, you may remember [with rose tinted goggles] the good times on CoA, it is returning under the same name.
Who is backing this?
Nobody yet, we need a host!
Where will CoA pick up?
One of the biggest changes is, we are scrapping the old lore of CoA, we are beginning from Vanilla WoW, and we will introduce Sirfranc's content overtime.
What will we see from YOU?
Sirfranc taught me everything I know about noggit, though I can't say I am as good as him, not by a long shot. But our level design team will be introducing fun, new content for you to explore, the first being the newly [fully original] rebuilt dalaran on the ground.
Will anything from CoA be introduced at launch?
Yes! Sirfranc's own zone of Northeron will be available from launch, under an encrypted patch, of course, as a great man once said, 'Sorry, Leachers!' The rest of the old CoA content will be replaced as needed.
Where can I find this server?
Find us on our temporary forums here! (http://"http)
Who's in charge?
I am, most know me as Skyla, or Firework. You can contact me on skype at rainbow.dashie2
When can I play?
When we launch! The release date is TBA, though the forums will be updated with progress!
We hope to see you on CoA!

Interesting, interesting... Good luck :)
-
I have to say, CoA was my first ever custom RP server and if I wasn't working on my own project right now I would probably check it out again. Best of luck!
-
UPDATE!
CoA is now in need of a host, and developers. If you believe you want to contribute your talents to this project, skype me!

A host, you may have.
-
Decided not to continue, they have.
Such a pitty..........
-
Aw I really loved this server! I would start playing it again... IS it coming back?
-
Shows over, project has been dead for a while.
And all of you, stop begging me for Sirfrancs files, I get like, 4 people asking each day, you can't have them. Not for money, not for a trade. Sorry. May CoA rest in peace, undisturbed.
-
why let it rest in peace?
isn't that a waste of the time SirFrance has thrown at it?
-

You will never learn it... It is not save....
-
It's possible to decrypt an MPQ if it's encrypted with a simple listfile removal.

Franc once said in absolutely every show off, 'Sorry, Leachers!', If you want creative work, create the work yourself. There is so many possibilities in WoW modding, we don't have to look to the past for work to copy and paste, we can look to it for creative influence, and ideas. But ideas should stay fresh, ideas should stay new, not dredged from the bottom of a sea of RP Server corpses.
My statement remains true and clear, May it rest in peace, lost, and not forgotten.
-
It's the same guy who says in school "TEACHER ! He is copying me, he is a cheater".
Just forget about it.
Doing the same thing over instead of improving the old one, yes, that's stupid, not selfish, just stupid.
-
Noggit can read the mpqs also without listfile. So just add map to noggit and resave every adr. Then you have them. In adts there are model pathes. So you know how they are named and you can extract them. Listfile remove dont secure anything.
-
I know a bit faster way to do it.
-
Yes but this is so clear that everyone that ever used noggit should know and make clear that any patch security dont work.
-
No, there're some ways to protect the patches. They cannot be opened by either Noggit or MPQEditors (crashes). But they require a custom wow.exe and repacked client.

In which way it'd still be able to get opened/extracted by using somewhat the same method as is used for extracting WoD at the moment. If the WoW client can read it, even if it's modified, then it can be extracted.
-
No, cannot be extracted. I will provide you with an opportunity to test it out later if you want ;)
-
I guess I remember asking you for a demo of your protection some time ago. I'd be delighted to give it a try as well.
-
Okay, but I just can't release anything right now because I have a repacked client which is already 9gb in size (will be reduced later). WoW.exe and patches are nothing without the entire thing.
-
I don't really care for the content and won't release your content if I find it. Just an excerpt for demo would be nice.
