Title: A quick question on modelling.
Post by: Franksta96 on April 19, 2015, 11:40:57 am
Hey guys! I've got a quick question. I've been checking the modelling section and I see no indication that Maya can be used to create models for WoW. Can someone tell me if I am able to model in Maya or will I have to stick with 3DS Max? I have both programs but I've mainly been taught to use Maya for most of my modelling needs, so 3DS Max is all but foreign to me right now. Thanks :)

This is not about 3D studios this is about exported format and settings of this exported one

Ah my mistake. I thought I was in the correct section to ask such a question. I just need to know if modelling in Maya is still a possibility that was all.

Never use 3ds max unless you need to execute a script. Maya is fine for creating wow models but you will have to export your work to any common format, then import it in blender and export again with given blender settings. Then your model is ready to get converted.

Excellent. It's just because when I saw 3DS Max appearing to be the only things I can find related to autodesk on here I was like "Good god I don't want to learn 3DS Max" since I already know how to effectively model in Maya. Thanks for that, should help me get started.
