So, how can i do it? Which utilities i need? I hoped to convert model to mdx and edit it, but i didn't found any convertors existing.
Also this stuff - viewtopic.php?f=59&t=850 - doesn't want to set mountpoint for my helmet. Or, may be, i do something wrong. I need guide.

I can't understand, what exactly i need to change. Which unit i need to edit? I checked bones and keybonelookup, but it's alright there and there are no coords. Where are coords?

Same problem for me:

010 editor (http://www.sweetscape.com/download/010editor/) + m2 template (http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=828).
-Go to attachments.
-Open the attachment called "Helmet".
-Go to position.
-Change position (probably only the 3rd one, vertical axys). Save.
-Problem solved.

By the way, I recommend you to check WoW Dev Wiki (https://wowdev.wiki/Main_Page) and Hiveworkshop tutorials (http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/3d-modeling-tutorials.282/). You need to know the basics of 3d modeling before moving to advanced stuff like manual retroporting.

I haven't these units. It's for character models? I do not need this. I have 264 units Vertices _Vertices. But it's diffivult to change every coordinates in every 164 units.

Sorry, but I don't understand a single word of what you are saying. If editing the character model doesn't work, edit the helmet position in Blender instead. The solution is extremelly easy one way or another.

I cheked some guides, but my Blender with scrypts doesn't want to inport m2i models.
I mean i have not "struct Attachments" unit when i open helmet m2 and executing template. Sry for my bad english, btw.

You must edit the character model's attachments, not the helmet model.
The problem is that you are not providing much information. If you are using the classic character models, then you must edit the helmet in blender because the attachment position changed in WoD and they modified all the helmet models. If you are using the Hd character models (like the one shown by matem), you just need to edit the attachment point.

Well, i thought screens should show it all. Sry. I use old character models, so i need to edit exactly helmet.

Which template you are using? Have both m2 and M2_603 and they dont have attachments under structure.

After load it and removing the legion heading from the MD20 and column four, again i cant see attachments. Tho 010 gave me those WARNINGS .
Did something wrong there ? :x :? :cry:
-
I already edited the characters model but this cause that every other helmet have lower position than the normal. The only way to do it is editing in some way the model of helmet.

You are getting no attachments because item models don't have attachments.
The only models with attachments are creatures, characters and UI backgrounds. The helmet attaches to the character model, not the other way around.

Aha, i thought that the items had the attachements, ough. So as i see the only solutions is to throw into blender with a static model and move it there. If i touch model helmet attachment isnt going to be a mess with the rest of the default helmets ? or cause its the legion armors no problem ?

You should extract the models from Warlords of Draenor instead of Legion.
As I said before, during a stage of the Legion development they increased the Z axys of every helmet model. The WoD model should have the same position as in WotLK.

If the model was added in Legion, the only way to fix it is by using Blender.

Did you try to use warlords of draenor items instead of Legion items?

No cause unfortunately i update my retail to legion [*facepalm]. I thought it in the first place but as i said it was late. Now if anyone can share a 6.2 WoD files would be nice. I need only helmet + shoulders from the Items folder. Rest can be taken from legion with no problem. I found a couple of downloads for WoD but downloading 25+ Gb isn't so easy and worth the effort for only half a gig. Else if none can ill start working it in blender. Thanks tho for the information.

I would be grateful if you will upload working blender and m2 / m2i plugins. I have working M2ModRedux, but none of all the downloaded blender versions i tried (2.49b, 2.62 and newest) could not import m2i model for some reasons. :(

Or you edit helm/shoulder attachment of all character models if u dont get them^^.
But then u have to edit all mobs wich can wear armor.

FML, i thought of it. Stupid blizzard and their cunning plans. Only 6.2 of game can help but as i said i dont have that version since i update to 7.1 *claps, * facepalm . If anyone can extract head and shoulders folder from a 6.2 item folder and share would be cool.

I tried to open model in blender (took m2 helmet, converted to m2i with M2Mod), edited it, but it cannot convert back to m2 correctly. I read on this forum that M2Mod is for creature and character models. What i need to open item models and convert them correctly from m2 to m2i and back?
-
So i manage to re-position the helmet and make it work, tho seems that the transparent area inside isn't transparent anymore and you cant see characters face. Any idea inico about it ? I followed the method of alastors for custom m2s.
I try by joining all 3 meshes into one and leave it as it is. I also discover that you can have as many texture records you want into the .obj file, kinda interesting.

All meshes into one.
Problem could be there was two or more textures in use and now just one and the vision is now on the normal helm texture.
Second differend renderflags for each mesh so you could try to transparent whole mesh and edit the texture.

So any suggestions on how to do that ? I haven't mess with the render flags in the past since didn't step on such problems. usually i overpass them. Now seems that with blizzard "brilliant" ideas i have to do it.
By the way redux can be use for items too, you might have to explain what procedure you follow on blender so someone can help you.

That's because you didn't read the m2mod redux post. It clearly says "works on Blender 2.73".

M2mod can flip the renderflags after import, specially in retroported stuff.
Try opening the model skin file and assigninf the correct renderflag to that geoset.
Other thing you can do to skip blender (only takes a few seconds):
-Open your model in PyModelEditor (http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3846).
-Create a new global sequence (I usually make a sequence of "1234")
-Go to the base bone (bone0). Change the bone flag to "transformed".
-Go to translation and create a new linear animation with the global sequence you just created:
0:{ -0.0587258 , 0.0 , -0.18623257 }
1234:{ -0.0587258 , 0.0 , -0.18623257 }

This should put the model in the right position. I was working on a 010editor script to do this automatically but it's not working correctly and I have no time to finish it, so it has to be done manually.
For some reason helmets are a little bit bigger in Legion. Maybe it has something to do with the new face animation system...I don't know. You can make a scaling animation with global sequence as well if you want.
If the model has multiple bones or particles, bind them to the base bone, or edit all of them.
I've only tried this on human male helmets, don't know if the translation coords are exactly the same for the other races (in case they are wrong, just change them).
-
Thanks mate. Going to play with ti and test it. :) :) ;)
-
I know this thread is a year old, but I figured I'd give a bit more information. The coordinates you set are not the same for every model. The coordinates given were specifically for the Male Human. If you want to do the other models you need to manually adjust the coordinates to find the correct position.
Hopefully in the future someone will create a batch file to run this smoothly, but until then you'll have to adjust each model manually.
Just for the sake of adding some value to this post, the coordinates for Male Dwarf are as follows:
0:{ -0.019 , 0.0 , -0.16 }
1234:{ -0.019 , 0.0 , -0.16 }
-
Didn't Adspartan implement helmet fixes in his convertor? Just asking, I am not sure, I thought he did.
-
I don't know who that is, and I don't know anything about someone's converter.
