Title: New to the community with a pretty big project in mind.
Post by: Zandersks on November 09, 2018, 06:56:17 am
Hello!

My name is Jeff and I'm pretty new to modding but I have a big idea and I want to work toward developing it, any reference material or advice that you think would be helpful please don't hesitate to drop it in the thread or message me directly! Thank you in advance!

My development objectives at this time are as follows:
1.) I want to build a new world map with a single continent comprised of 12 zones and a large open pvp zone (like the arena in stranglethorn). I would like to make items drop from your inventory when you're killed while in this zone.

2.) I want to build 6 instances that scale based on the number of people you bring in to them. They can be cleared solo, with a 5 man group or a 10 man raid.

3.) I want to build 3 raid instances that are set to 10 man and 25 man.

4.) I want to remove all of the standard classes from the game and replace them with a single class. This class will have access to abilities that it can purchase that will define the play style of the individual player.

5.) I would like to make new gear and remove the soulbound feature from the game.

So far that is my view for the build, I know that it will be a long process and a lot of trial and error but I'm willing to put in the work and the practice!

Does anyone have a link for an MPQ editor that will work with vanilla and the most recent version of Noggit? Also, can someone advise me on what would be the most stable core for my build?

Current versions of noggit do not work properly with Vanilla. You'll be stuck with a decade old Noggit.

So would it be better to base my build around a later version of the game such as WotLK or Cata?

Yes, wotlk is generally considered the most moddable version, yes.
