[QUESTION] [REQUEST] Change music in Tirisfal Glades
« on: May 24, 2015, 09:10:36 pm »
Hey!
I really tried to do it myself, but since Im a hopeless noob, it didnt work.
I need a patch which would replace the music/ambience/etc in Tirisfal Glades, Ruins of Lordaeron (including the throneroom etc) and Undercity by the music files (default names, of course) I will put into the mpq. Thanks in advance!

Put your own mp3s into your patch, add them into SoundEntries.dbc, and use those IDs to replace the old ones in ZoneMusic.dbc. There's no reason why we should do this for you. I hope you've read the tutorials by now.

I tried calling it "patch-L", "patch-1" and "patch-9" and I placed it in both Data and DataruRU folders. Nothing worked.

P.S.I have to mention that I didnt make a listfile since idk how, I couldnt find a tutorial on it and someone (probably you) told me that cata doesnt require a listfile

No version requires a listfile. That makes itself automatically and you don't technically need it either. But that patch name won't work in Cata. Like I said earlier, name it SoundCache-Patch-15595.MPQ and stick it in Data/Cache/

Alternatively, you can crack the client to read directly from the Data/ folder. I've never done this so can't help.

I already have a SoundCache-patch-15595 file, so I decided to add the music in there. However, I can only create one folder there and add the music in it (etc SoundUndercity01-zone.mp3), because when I create two folders (etc SoundMusic) and try to add the music in it (SoundMusicUndercity01-zone.mp3), the mpq editor says "File "Sound" already exists in the MPQ archive. Do you want to replace it?". Then, no matter if I choose to replace or not, the music isnt added, but a file "Sound" is instead created in the main directory of the MPQ.

I don't really know what you're talking about. But you should only have one patch

Code: [Select]
World of Warcraft 4.3.4
     Data
          Cache
               SoundCache-Patch-15595.MPQ
                    DBFilesClient
                         LightIntBand.dbc
                         SoundEntries.dbc
                         ZoneMusic.dbc
                         GameObjectDisplayInfo.dbc
                    Sound
                         Music
                              Custom
                                   YourSong.mp3

I won't help any further.

I tried to do exactly what you said,  but when I try to add the music file into the Custom folder, it just doesnt add. Instead, the editor creates a "Sound" file in the main directory of the mpq.

Sigh... Idk why it's doing that. I think you just need to use "Build the MPQ archive from a file or directory" which is an option you can select when creating a new MPQ in Ladik's MPQ Editor. Don't try to add/remove files directly into the MPQ Editor program, it's extremely bugged in my experience. Always build your patches from a folder on your harddrive.

Then I'll have to extract everything I already have in the patch (which is wod models and your darker nights), add the music to it and then make a patch again( But ok, I'll try.

If I make a separate patch called e.g. "SoundCache-Patch-15596.MPQ" and place it in the DataCache folder, will the client read it?

No, the client won't read that.

And you should always keep your patch in a folder on your hard drive and build it from there. It will make your life a lot easier, trust me.
