Title: [QUESTION] Cataclysm water in WotLK
Post by: Amaroth on March 27, 2014, 04:14:44 pm
Name of topic says all. So, would it be possible to import water from cataclysm to WotLK? Its just question, I'm nearly sure it would need to make changes in engine and thats no simple work with MPQ patches, but if there is some way, I would welcome it. If not, just say no :P.

It's possible...ish.
You can't get the exact Cataclysm water, but some shaders are in 3.3.5 files, just disabled by the client.
It seems very complicated and I unfortunately can't help you.

I also managed to do this. So, it's possible and not hard at all.

However, it's not a 100% copy of cata water because it has no shoreline animation and ripple animation. However, waves work even better than in Cataclysm.
