Level Design / Just my imagination running wild...

While this is something far beyond my ability to do, I think it would be cool if someone proficient in Noggit, took the best parts of Cata's updated Azeroth and somehow merged them into the vanilla maps. I don't mean change the vanilla maps dramatically, more like say, replacing vanilla Stormwind/Orgrimmar with the updated ones that look fine from the air, and fill in the "gaps" between zones from vanilla (like adding the Steampools between Silithus and Feralas and adding Diremaul's "exterior")to basically make vanilla Azeroth fly worthy but retaining the essential design of the vanilla zones (and keeping all their content intact). I'd even go so far as to add the additional cata Azeroth zones like Gilneas, Vashj'ir Uldum and Twilight Highlands just to make the world more "complete". Maybe even use the updated Hyjal for something accessible and useable.
I wonder if anyone has ever considered doing this and if private servers would be willing to use something like this even though it wouldn't be "blizzlike" in some people's minds. I think a 3.3.5 server with a "flyable" world and the additional zones would be pretty cool, and the cata zones are a blank canvas for quest building.
What do you guys think? Is this something you'd want to see done? Maybe someone here is up to the task and is looking for a project?
