Cataclysm ADTs backported to 3.3.5 [Help needed]
« on: March 28, 2015, 08:28:33 pm »
I'm trying to convert Cataclysm ADTs to 3.3.5a, how would this be done? I assume I'll need 01 editor, I have that, notepad ++, I have that. Just take me through the steps, what other programs I'll need, and I'd very much appreciate your help.

I've seen that video before, I noted to myself that it doesn't actually go into depth about the DBC editing, and that part confused me the most.

The guide is about Back Porting the "ADT File Structures" lol. Why would I cover other DBC Editing that's not related to the actual physical job of "Map ADT Backporting"? The only edit you would need is to enable the Map lol.

If you want the world map and zone names and what not, that's already covered in other areas for custom created maps. I'm covering things that is unique to this particular process. Those other little details have no actual relation to the ADT file's data structure, they are just cosmetic decorations.

It's like people getting upset because a course on how to build a house and wire it so you can have electricity doesn't have an included course on how to decorate the house and how to set up matching tiles, paint, and accessories lol.

As phucko1 said, if you would just take the time to look around and not be so ignorant of (Widely)General information versus SOMETHING THAT IS CATERED DIRECTLY TO YOUR SPOILED NEEDS..... You might actually learn something useful. ^_^

I'm not angry or anything, I was a noob long ago(thanks to stoneharry and soldan for virtually smacking some sense into me) and I remember my own selfish thought process's. :)  Take it from another ex-noob, just follow every god damn tutorial you find, whether or not it's even remotely related to what you're interested in at the current time, because 100% of the time, it will come up again later down the road and you'll be really happy that you made yourself go through with it. :)

I'm not just referring to Wow modding/emulation, I'm referring to anything and everything. There are thought process's you don't get from just doing a particular craft/activity. Such as I'll give you an example with myself and coding/scripting, there are some thought processes I now mentally use that actually came from building 3D Geometry and Photoshop.  Some people (including myself) have a really hard time understanding why it's important to keep your coding data in separate files, another way to explain it is how we use Layers and Scenes in 3D and 2D Art.

For a long time, I always just had all of my code in a main code file and or for php, in one HUGE php file lol.

Anyway goodluck. :)

Cheers!
