Ok so I got Taliis on my mac, and I edit the CharBaseInfo.dbc file, in hopes to switch out the warlock class for hunter for humans and gnomes. I type in the correct values, turn wow on, connect to my private server, but Hunter is still unavailable just like before i got taliis. What other files do i need to modify in order for the race/class combo to work?

And you also put your DBC into the server and the client?

How would you do that, since I might not have tried it? I assume it's some complicated process where i need a different program for it. I'd like to know in case.

You should discribe what you did.
You must
1. Edit the DBCs.
2. Copy to your server DBC folder
3. Create a MPQ with DBCs in right path inside and add as patch to your client. (read the basic tutorials in misc)

and also create points of spawn for new class/race combinations, and spells

You are right.
For Trinity you need to add lines in playercreatinfo inside the MySQL DB for every new class/race combination..
