Modcraft Patch Helper

This is a little tool I have written for me some time ago. And because some guys asked me how i handle patch testing and backups I have redesigned the GUI and add some safety checks.

You will need an actual .NET framework.

So what do this tool. You can setup 4 patch sources and destinations and with a press on a button, the helper then use MPQEdit 1.1 to pack the files from the source directory into the destination patch and run WoW after this. I have also included a backup function . With just one button click you backup all of the 4 or only selected patch source folders.



This is the main window. Here you can select witch of the 4 patches will be packed before running WoW or will be included in the backup.

The Test patch button packs the selected patches and start wow.
The Backup button creates a new sub folder in the backup destination folder with the current date and time and copy all selected patches there.

The settings button opens a new window where you can setup all paths and settings.



In the tool tab you must select your test WoW.exe and the MPQEdit1.1.exe.
Best use an separated WoW copy for testing and one for noggit3.
I use the MPQEdit1.1 because it faster packs uncompressed patches then the new one and this menus i can access with the c# sendkey. I tried with MPQEdit2 and it don't work.



In the next 4 tabs you can define 4 different patch source folders and the destination files inside your test wow. You can setup for example the first one four your standard patch-4.MPQ direct inside the data folder. Here you have your most data in. Then you can setup on local patch called patch-deDE-4.MPQ that will be generated in data/deDE (for me :) yours could differ depending on the language of your client). And then you can have another one with the files in you current work most on. This will be packed into patch-5.MPQ inside your data folder. So you don't have to pack all the stuff every time if you only work on one map.

The delay is a value the helper waits that MPQEdit can finish pack process. Because i don't get feedback from the app I send keys to I just wait for 1 or 2 seconds. So if you get the message inside MPQEdit that a packaging process is still running you have to raise this value. Not very smart bu it works ;)



In the last tab you must setup the path where all your backups will be generated if you use this function.

So I hope this tool helps you like me :)

Not much new but hope a cleaner version. Next time new features.

- Fix normal bug.
- Saving of MFBO information´s.
- Turn off the debug MFBO rendering at F7

To clean up the normal bug from your adts:

- Select raise tool.
- Set radius to max
- Set speed to 0
- Klick in 3d mode on the ground.
- You can see the changes in 2d mode (press u)
- Save all adts.

This way i get myne clean without any changes on them.

I heard that some that could use it don't use noggit3 and I want to ask why and what they use instead?
Would be interesting to hear and perhaps bring noggit development into some new directions.

I post this here because some don't read the noggit board if the don't use the app :)

BLPView is a thumbnail provider shell extension, allowing Windows to display thumbnails and previews of BLP images. BLPView can be installed on both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7.
 
Note that BLPView only previews BLP images -- it does not allow you to convert them to other formats or open them in other applications.
 
Installation instructions
 The ZIP contains an executable installer that will extract the appropriate version of the BLPView shell extension, and install it in Program FilesBLPView. You should be able to view BLP thumbnails in Windows Explorer immediately after the installation completes.
 You may uninstall BLPView at any time by using the Programs and Features Control Panel item.

Most stuff as already posted on twitter is under the hood.
now automatically re sizes to the content's size.
Now full UTF8 support for all languages.
Basic implementation ot the texture swapper. Usage will change in next version

Because some guys ask, here is a little hint how to have your own server messages in the login screen.
You need a webserver on port 80 where you can put the message text file the client will load on every startup.

- Setup a new folder called alert on the root of your webserver.
- Put an index.htm or an index.php if you want to generate the news from a database there.
- Add the messages to this file in the following form.

- You have to be careful. The WoW HTML renderer (CSimpleHTML) does not support many HTML commands. So test your output after every change.
- Add the file InterfaceGlueXMLGlueStrings.lua to your patch if not already done.
- Open it and search the string SERVER_ALERT_URL and set it to your server's URL.
- Now create your MPQ and start the client.
- Be aware that this file is not language neutral. Adding it to your patch will get the people using your patch the same language at glue screens as you have. You may want to have multiple patches like this for every language or do the edit in a language neutral file.

If you are skilled in php you can create the messages from a forum DB or one you setup and fill yourself.

Do someone know how to hide the full chat tab. My goal is to hide all original gui elements and show only my addon. A get everything managed except the chat window.

- Fix WMO duplication.
- Fix some speed problems with autoselection.
- Hide CMD window on windows.
- FIxes of some startup problems.
- Many changes under the hood. Code clean up.
- Reactivate water rendering after delet of double function call. No GL errors for me now. You can turn on water to see if your ground have the right height. BUT water dont get saved until now! Its only for easyer ground modeling.


The model duplication function will come soon in next version. It will delete double models.
