Title: [RELEASE] Old vanilla stuff to 1.12.1‏
Post by: fakepanda on April 10, 2015, 11:27:41 am
Over the past month I've been porting some stuff from earlier patches to 1.12.1 while I was bored. What you can find here might be interesting to some people.

[Big undead shoulder patch]
When WoW was released undead males used used to have bigger shoulder size. They removed this somewhere around patch 1.5. I've taken the undead male character file from earlier patch and made a mpq so everyone can enjoy it.

The change is very noticeable as you can see on the following pics:

[Old Succubus model]
Before patch 1.4 succubus used to have another model. I've taken the model from a old patch and made a custom patch for it.

[Removed troll joke patch]
This patch enables the removed troll silly emote "I kill two dwarves" . Not sure what patch they removed this on but all I had to do to enable it was just add the sound file back.
To hear it, just spam /silly until you hear the emote.

[Old ogre model patch]
Before patch 1.3 ogres used to have a different model than they do today. This patch adds back the old model to all ogres in Azeroth, even those ogres added after patch 1.3. For the ogres that were added past patch 1.3 I've used the equivalent model and texture.

Everything is tested and is likely to have no bugs, however if you do find one post it in this topic.
That's all for now. I might update this topic sometime later with some more old things.

The Title Clearly says 1.12.1 , NOT 3.3.5a or 5.x.x , and the description clearly talks about Vanilla, NOT what you are talking about.

Updated topic with old ogre patch. No bugs have been found from my own testing, but there may be some considering it changes all ogres in Azeroth.

I'm assuming this could, with some effort or tool, be converted to WotLK? That'd be pretty useful, hint-hint.

Was trying to use them all but mostly the BIG undead shoulders patch. I've been looking for a patch like that again for years. wish i could get it on live they look so much better.

I was wondering, isn't possible to add the "big shoulders undead" in the wotlk (or more ofc) with some .skin hexediting ? It's can't be that hard, I mean, it's just a scaling.

Or i'm totally wrong ?

Any chance of adding Azeroth's second moon back? That was removed in 1.4 but later reinstated when Mists of Pandaria was released.

Yeah, that can probably easily be done.

Just gonna do some research first.

Aight so, from what I've noticed is that the blue moon appears at around 1 am on patch 1.1 and when I later attempted to see the moon at around 1 am again, the blue moon didn't appear.

I managed to get the blue moon visible again by relogging at 1 am, however by logging out at like 1:01 am made it disappear.

So from my understanding it seems like the blue moon only appears for players who login within the first minute of 1 am. If you login at 1:01 or past that you won't be able to see it. If you logged in at 1 am but relogged at 1:05 you won't be able to see it no more.

On 1.12.1 no second moon appears if you login at 1 am. No extra moon appears at 1 am on patch 1.8 at 1 am either.

Ogres are working fine, succubus model is using the 1.4+ texture tho. Any reason for this to happen?
Also, did you have to convert those models from mdx to m2?

He did not. The models were already M2 in that version.

reason why succubus is using 1.4 textures is because I've used dbc editing on both the ogre and succubus patch in order to replace the model/texture of all creatures who used to have it. They are not compatible with eachother.  If you remove the ogre patch, the succubus patch will start working correctly aka show the old texture.

I can make a patch that includes dbc edits for both succubus and ogre.

Yeah, making a big shoulder patch for wotlk should be possible by scaling the bones.

I've created a big shoulder patch for Nostalrius players running on enUS clients. Only enUS atm because  I don't have any enGB client.

What program did you use to edit Undead bone size?

I used no program to edit it. When WoW was originally released undeads had larger shoulder size. The last undead model to still have big shoulder is from patch 1.1 iirc and .m2 has not changed throughout entire vanilla. So all I had to do was grab undead model from patch 1.1 and make a custom patch for it.
You don't want the release version of undead model, since it lacks cannibalize animation (it was added in later patch.)

I don't suggest porting the model that my patch contains to other expansions, since it will lack certain animations added in later expansions. So if you are to make a big undead shoulder patch for another expansion you would have to edit shoulder bone of the undead model, iirc you have to edit the size of shoulder attachment bone.

Updated ogre patch with small fix and created a patch that contains both old succubus and old ogre.

Yes, but I lack the knowledge to do so.
