Hello to all, im kinda new member here and got started a small project a few days back while i was looking a way to use the new models to a classic client. Accidentally i step to Spik96 project with the converter. Also with some other member video tuts and tools here got an image how wow is been modded these days what amazing projects exists. I was modding games, but did back in CoD UO years, and FPS with tools is an easy way to mod. Anyway i want to saw you what i have done till now, this is a WiP and don't know yet when completely done.

So those are the changes at the moment, all animations and ect are working, seems at the moment a small problem with particles and not all working. In example on fire elemental and air elemental from WotLK particles work fine when in the rest elemental models it doesnt. Anyway im giving as much feedback i can to Mr Spik96 about glitches i found on the process and thanks to his converter we can mod moar ! :D

I was playing around with character models and found those minor things. Tho im still experimenting with it and not complete it. Bust since i step on those minor "bugs" i wanted to ask if theres a solution on them.
1. The eye glow from deathknight unfortunately is hardcored to the model. So is there a way to remove or replacing with a transparent BLP file ?

2. The belt model seems stuck there and game uses it as the normal place for the belt. Tho the guy seems having a belly problem :lol: ! Can i remove it with blender or im gonna have an error ?

You must remove the submeshes with Blender.
WoW works with active hiding : if the client does not explicitly decide to hide a submesh, then it is displayed. So all post classic submeshes like big belts, big foots, death knight eyes, some capes... will be visible.

Recent WoW have more submeshes than Classic. New shapes for newer items, for example. Those shapes must be removed with Blender in order to prevent them from being displayed.

Ok i had to go all over again since a pwr failure corrupted my files and i had to go from the begging, no big deal tho but that stall me abit. So here is the final result :

So question, armor texts seems FUBAR, is this normal or i made kinda a mess when i delete those meshes ?
I have to say that i didn't convert the body/hair/face textures, i just edit model and downgrade it to classic to see if the previous effects are disabled.

You're in uncharted territory so nobody can answer for sure, but it is known there is a required texture editing for HD character models when you downgrade them to LK (and obviously same for BC and CL). I'm not expert about it, tho, so I can't help much.

It's really nice to see how much Spik has done for the vanilla wow community. And good job to you too Uthil for making all of these conversations cause I know you've messed a lot with the files to get so far and I think it's a great idea that you're working on these edits too - not only helping Spik that way but also exchanging experience and showing off your own work this way. People will really appreciate all of your effort and I mean that to both you.
P.S. I think you both could make a great team.

I kinda form a de facto team with every 1.12 modder since all of them use my tools. Which is why I started to code. Allowing people to express their mods in Vanilla was always my number one goal. Now I see larger and begin to make programs for all versions, but I always ensure the Vanilla community and their old client is not forgotten.
The projects of Stan84, Uthil and Leeviathan shows at least some people begin to look at modding the old game.

If you want the new WoD Models on Vanilla, you are gonna have to fix the uvmapping (http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=8564) Once done, you will need to fix all the textures for the model, to fit the vanilla format, use the tutorial above, and resize the texture to half (eg. if the body texture is 512x512, you need to resize it to 256x256.)
When you have done that, you will need to fix CharSections.dbc. No easy way to do this, but just compare the two and you will find out easily.
When all that is done, the finished result should look something like this:

Hey people. I own that to spik96 for his tools but also from those forums too guys. So thanks again in advance. For example Phantoms tut i build some base to re map the texts and edit WoD models, tho if that tool didn't exist we couldn't move on down to BC or Classic.
Anyway, didn't had much time today and also was 1st touch with heavy 3d editing but at the end i made too see how it works and also put back the texts on the models.

Here something went wrong with the head or eye concept. I think whole head is positioned backwards :lol:
Not sure to be honest. Also if you notice that thing near the mouth is the ear texture, thas why i believe whole head went wrong. Also all animations work fine, only sound like if you type /laugh doesn't work.
So as you see again i manage to put things back. Textures was made pretty fast and sloppy just to see the whole procedure.

Thanks for the tip mate, im gonna check it since that re start i did due to file corruption and plus i need re made the texts at least one of each for testing purposes. Tho i did this, in my last test i didnt edit the DBC file, i just deleted the _HD at the end so file much the original name. Don't know if its bad idea or good, but i think trying to rename all those textures is far more painful than just change the DBC file.
I will update soon since im gonna try to push Human re texturing for a final result. Any ideas or tips for the newbie wow modder will be appreciated :) 8-)

Only one thing remain. That effect in the back of head. As it seems it changed when i click facial Hair tho rest of face textures and hair isn't working since i haven't convert any files.

I found another "glitch" lets say. When using the facial hair buttons to change if he gonna has beard or what ever i notice that 2-3 facial hairs are presented and that weird behavior:

If you check closer you'll see that its a part of chest text on the face. This is not normal i believe but not sure since i haven't finish all face upper and lower textures.
So want to ask again any ideas and can i correct that ?
Is in anyway possible using spik96 tool to hurt the model during the process ? ( i mean that i might have found a bug during compiling model down to classic)

Someone already converted a couple models to vanilla and reported no bug. Through maybe he just did not find them.

Well asking since its first time that im on that, some other has passed that stage already and might have seen similar staff. In any case that someone wants i can send him my model for test. I also i might have FUBAR something when was uVmapping texts on face. Tho your tool is an addition of the arsenal of modding that old crusty game :D :D .
** Found something new, when in game model doesn't unsheathe weapons, he does the animation correct but no weapons.

Ok, here is the situation, at the moment since that weird behavior on the model i thought i made a new one from all over again. This time i used the files from my WoD installation. thats 6.2 version. Only difference was the teh broken geosets, which i edit with 010 and chnaged so i could make the M2.
So all when done i made it back m2 and then downport it to LK with the CataToLKM2 tool. Before i re downport it to classic i made a new mpq and i add those file so i can read it with LK WMV .
So here is the results :

I have again the same effect on the back of the face and again the same when i downport it to classic. So i believe that problem exist elsewhere, which i cant get where, and not to the conversion tool from Spik96.
Also i have add the CreatureModelData into my classic custom mpq and have convert some textures. Tho the face is completely off. Also i want to say again that /laugh and /cry sounds isn't working as also model doesn't unsheathe weapon too.
Since im stuck in a dead end at the moment and if anyone can spare a tip or information it would be much appreciated.

As far as i know when black means no texts mean either wrong size or wrong format (png instead of blp).
Did you resize your textures ?

Nope, just used oryginal ones, the backgroud tiles are 512x512, and the black ones are 512x256 or 256x128 i will try resizing them to square (256x256 or 128x128). Did You do something with textures while conversion of Your character UI_ models?

That looks like a lighting problem, where for some reason the conversion stopped any light from being shown. Did you replace the actual M2 or swap them via DBCs?

That could be a problem with my tool. The main source of bugs in my converter is :
WotLK : No info ==> always enabled, always lit, always opaque...
BC : No info ==> disabled, off, transparent...
I struggle to fix this but it's hard to find when it occurs.

So made many tests converting many models, till now same end result. Face been FUBAR and can't get where's the problem. Its been 4 days now doing tests and trying to understand the error but im in a no point to move on. If anyone is willing to help will be grateful.

So the Pandaria one works and the Cataclym don't ? That's interesting. I don't have the clients at home right now but I should make a comparaison to see the difference.
I suspect the 0x01 "Unlit" Renderflag (http://www.pxr.dk/wowdev/wiki/index.php?title=M2/WotLK#Render_flags), but I'm not sure yet. If it is the source of bugs I'll automatically disable it when converting from LK to BC.

In my tests i used 6.2 retail models and the ones that Phantom has in his link. Both gave me the same ruined face texture, where hairstyles sit on top of face texture. Im another test on right now, dunno if i can complete it since i have to bail for work. Ill continue when i get back.

Yes Spik, pandaria model works, textures are visible. Indeed it is because render flags, after adjusting them, cataclysm UI_troll model is working too. Maybe this issue can't be fixed by "AI", simply sometimes human have to adjust them by hand :)

I tried to change the other two tables but seems the WoD model to be smaller than the classic (normal) one and need to be scaled a bit.I might try to get it done.

So i want to ask if anyone can tell me how i can fix those ? i have to edit model ? Edit via dbc ? Really dont know how put them in correct angle, i thought that would be handle by game as it does. Like the first picture that i have footlockers are reversed, you cant see the padlock from the front side. So if i can somehow fix it i would like to hear what i can do for it! Thats all more are under work and thanks in advance .

Its been already again five days that i ask anyone's opinion and knowledge how i can fix those wrong placed fences and lamp post but now answer till now. Even topic got some extra views didn't manage to solve the problem and was waiting a hint how i might. Also my major problem exists about weapon unsheathing,model does the animation correct but you don't see any weapon been hold. Cheers!

Again thanks spik for stepping front, tho i want to inform you that i tried a couple of times, tho when i used m2mod4, since the file comes from my 6.2 client, to convert the m2i back to m2 the m2mod4 stop responding. So i left clueless since i thought that might cant be rotated or indeed i didn't something wrong. Im gonna do another attempt to see if i can turn it back to m2.
Again thank you mate and if you can provide any additional info i would be appreciated.

I want to add some extra update, i'll continue to post here too. So i manage to put my hands into a legion beta client and found many things been re worked from blizz. Recently Spik96 advised me on how to stop my Druid Bear Form from displaying its weapon in hand. I have a hunch the same fix might work here. If my hunch is correct, the problem is from the HandRight and HandLeft "Attachments" in the m2, specifically the Animation Block for these attachments needs to be enabled ("01") to show the weapon in hand. I guess that the Animation Block binary toggle is only essential for vanilla/burning-crusade(?) No i actually didnt use the WMO editor to be honest and also didnt thought that damn Blizz had them faced in the other axis from the original. I thought that will be normal and the game will handle the position/rotation. Im gonna give it a try.

I don't think that's his problem, I already checked that and all the attachments are always enabled when no info is given :

In character models, all attachments animation blocks are the same so all of them should always display.
At the moment I don't know what causes the specific bug Uthil had.

Way to early to say lad, at the moment too many things hanging around and specially the bug with the weapons. So till then cant tell much, i might and thanks for like my project, tho original concept was on mr spik since his also the author of the tools, without him we still be looking at WoTLK . :ugeek: :geek:

Tho since im testing and updating from Legion too plus im kinda busy in my working schedule so things go a bit slow, there is also the bug with the weapons to be solved too so till now we need some patience.

Character models at the present state has this issue, when you unsheathe weapons it doesn't show it. its like been invisible. It came to my attention that also new legion moonkin form is having same issue too. Since i spoke to koward he said at the moment he aint gonna continue debugging the tools and find a fix about.
NPC's is getting affected too since im using stock names. I might need to build also npc's textures. That tho a far next step. Unless that bug isnt fixed i cant progress the character models. Till now model works fine, need some fine tuning to its textures and i believe gonna be good.

Tho due to a life incident he cant continue to work on the project since he off for quite a time. Im asking if anyone has some good photoshop knowledge and not basic as me, seems after some tests im not a digital painter, to help me continue the remaining skins left and put my project kinda back on track. If anyone interested pst me or leave a reply here.

Thanks !! Thats a nice idea for it, looks more of an old time classic thral than the WoD version, thrall to be honest was under consideration, since WoD model doesnt have a weapon, plus i wanted to re create him, basic on this model to something like a Thrall of WotLK like.

Well made an attempt to convert it but seems it missing files that required for conversion. Plus it need it some small fine tune tho without the files i cant use that. I

Hello madmax1976 and thanks, those are just fixes but not implemented on the BETA. Those will come with the final release as i see it till now. I have plan a final release and not another update since mod turned to be kinda big. So im presenting the new fixes done since BETA release from people posting their observations.

But the Humans on the creation screen have weird black texture over half of face
Trollls have really long ears and same wierd artifacting on tusks as humans on their face.

Yeah since they are considered as an ALPHA state, but unfortunately left inside the mod. Characters will be released after main mod is done.

playing with the mods is gr8 - just checking in to see when new release will be ready - im constantly surprised at the difference it makes but have encountered a lot of dead textures (due to it being alpha) so would love to get the latest version when you are ready ofc.

So i made some updates the past few days on the weapons section. I also changed the defaults nameplates to a something more easier to have and not the old blocky one. Both aren't considered at the moment an update to the major patch but as in the coming updates. Tell me which one you prefer to keep. Defaults or the updated ones.

To say the bloody truth for me, since Ashbringer isnt available to the normal players, i was already thinking even by the time that i made that post, that the updated Legion model is far the best after the update they made on it, comparing with the default one. In the other hand corrupted has its own history and its already beautiful, imagine if blizz had manage to updated it as the normal one. So for me i vote the updated Ashbringer and default Corrupted. :geek: ;)

Seems that the specific model affects some sea giant model, even if i changed only Dagun. Under investigation!
As requested, Dagun the Ravenus is now an original old god ! :) :D

Im close enough to finish goblins but i've step on a bug and trying to figure it out and fix it. Now as for Dagun seems at the moment he shares his model with another one and actually with Deepstrider Giant. So ill need to investigate a bit more to see if any other creature use same model.

Hmm, this is quite interesting. Though this is not from my main mod. I'll check it to be sure but I suspect that's something with the char model's maybe.
