[SOLVED] Invisible Shoulders Problem
(1/3) > >>
Milly:
Hi all, I've been spending the last few hours tinkering with this and can't figure it out. I'm trying to import a set of MoP armor to WotLK. For some reason, only some parts of my shoulders are showing up after following this tutorial. Without that tutorial, nothing shows up at all of course. But after doing some searching I couldn't figure out why the tutorial isn't fixing the entire problem. I've tried doing it three times and I get the same results each time.
Below is a picture of how the shoulders appear in-game. As said, half of it isn't there.
And here are my files to give you an idea of which paths I'm using for the model/skins.
And last, here is the MyDBCEditor entry for the item that I'm trying to put in-game. (ItemDislayInfo.dbc)
Oh and if it somehow has any relevance, the shoulders are the Dreadful Gladiator's Redemption shoulders. Thanks.
schlumpf:
As they do not show up at all, the name, the textures and everything is just irrelevant.
Most likely it is bad renderflags or geoset descriptions. I am sick of all the converting problems though and will just ignore all of them from now and think about just deleting all threads where Blizzard content is stolen.
Milly:
What do you mean Blizzard content? I don't quite understand how using MoP content is any different than Cata, WotLK, TBC, and Vanilla. It's all Blizzard content by definition. Every m2, every wmo; it's all copyrighted by Blizzard and all private servers are already illegal to begin with. Who knows, maybe I'm misinformed. If you don't mind educating me, I'd really appreciate it. I'd rather not be "in the wrong", so to speak. Thanks for the input on the problem though.
schlumpf:
In this case, you are taking content from blizzard, modify it and make it available. In the case of using models in some ADT made with noggit, you create new content, and don't make any copyrighted content available.
There is a difference between creating something referencing something and creating something being something.
So imho, every thread putting up a download for models converted from Cataclysm or MoP to WotLK is infringing copyright, while screenshots or questions about own files created are not.
Milly:
But every time someone makes a server and allows other users to connect, they're emulating the game and making it available. Whether it's a WotLK, Cata, or MoP server, it is always distributing Blizzard content to the user, free of charge. It is in every case a violation of the Terms of Service and it is copyright infringement.
Forgive me if I sound like I'm arguing, I'm only trying to understand why using MoP/Cata is being frowned upon.
Are you basically suggesting that it's not okay to import items from other expansions? Like if I were running a Burning Crusade server, it would be (more) illegal to import WotLK items? Because that's the same thing. Although I continue to be confused as to why it's any different from emulating the game in the first place.
