if you want purely do M2s with anims best way is i guess to make I/O scripts for blender for example and we are done - making anims / armature / mesh is all quetly easy and i can asure you that blender can handle all possibilities of M2 - and here we are back again just bring me someone who can actualy do it i have no idea about python otherwise i would do it already

IMO the hard thing is not reading M2 & M3 (or MDX), it's the matching between structures. How is a given M2 feature called in the M3 doc.
