Xanatos:
Can someone link me to or give me a walkthrough to taking an existing zone in 3.3.5, say, Stranglethorn Vale - and creating a clone which I can edit
* (remove some game objects like npcs and booty bay) * Change the name of the zone and possibly sub areas as well * Change the Sky box
I want to take the Stranglethorn vale and turn it into Everquests 'Plane of Fear' for my EverWoW project, but this kind of editing has eluded me in past attempts.
There is a recruitment post viewtopic.php?f=28&t=8833 if anyone is interested in this concept and wants to join us in merging the best elements from both games to create a new kind of WoW server.
Ohai:
Noggit basically creates 'clones' you get them in a patch, you have a whole section here with tutorials. And Its probably the only viable tool you can use for that, except for changing the name you'll have to hack that manually
Amaroth:
Using Noggit for this wouldn't be very smart at all. You would have to edit and save the whole area and then deal with things like client crashes because of GE errors and such matters.
Browse blizzlike patches in Data folder and find in world/maps/ folder named Azeroth. Use noggit only to find out which ADTs you want to copy. Export those ADTs from blizzlike patch, create new map while using them. It would be best if you would not change their coords.
About creatures and gameobjects, tables world.gameobject and world.creature, just rewrite map IDs for all creatures in that area. If you want to keep creatures and gobs in both versions of STV, you can make backup of those NPCs and gobs before updating their map ID and than import them back.
If you have absolutely no clue what the hell am I talking about, start with reading tutorials in Getting Started section, toy a little bit with tools and after it start with trying to actually do something what will be used for some project or such things.
Ohai:
Well if he were that handy with backhand WoW modding I dont think he would be making this thread in the 1st place :b I may be rong tho only the OP knows lol, but I havent seen a tool thats more user friendly. He would have to invest more time learning to do it all manually then find a few crash error threads here imo
Xanatos:
correct - this doesnt make sense to me. lol
I have actually tried to follow that section and a guide on just this before, and it ended up a big confusing mess and I never actually got it to work. Then I met someone who threw up a zone in 20minutes. But that was 2 years ago. I am working on restarting this project due to renewed interest with people but I no longer know how to reach that guy.
