There is converter to a Starcraft 2 format, and I'm pretty sure there is a way to get a Starcraft 2 model to become a generic model file.

You're exaggerating. Drag the model on that exe, then use this:

And you got yourself a blender model.
Assuming that's what you meant by general format?
