hero engine dont look bad and 99 bugs a year is cheaper then paying a server :) The question is if you creat a game and dont take money. Is that ok for them ;)

What i talk about is an full opne source project. They can code OS systems so why not an MMO engine.
And we could use many finished stuff out there. Also a binded community to share models and ex whould be nice like modcraft.

I think a big problem in software development, especially online, is that people won't share their source. If everyone worked together,  huge things could be done. But simply nobody wants to -.-

We have been trying to back engineer swtor for a while, but its impossible to find contributors nowadays. So it is taking a much longer time than anyone hoped. Same with skyrim online.  :(

Sina:
I think, there a lots of people, wanting to share their work -

but not those, who actually are skilled and trained.

I think, an open-source MMO-Engine (with tools etc), would be f**cking great in many ways, but there are also some things why I think, this would not work without a good concept (how to show people easily how to make new things, etc). But this wouldn't fit to the topic here, but also very interesting (: (who wants to open a new topic? : D)

If someone wants to work on such a thing, it will take a lot of time and concentration on it, it will be a part of your life, maybe, one of the biggest parts (just, to be sure that the motivation is kept up ^^), so you have to think a lot about it.
I'm not sure, if I wanted to "give my life up" for an open source mmo engine, but, nevertheless...

...it would be fecking awesome (;

Enough said.

It's like the fact, that less rich people want to share their money, instead of semi-poor people.

That's why I hate most rich and most skilled people.
