Welcome to World of Warcraft Improved Models mod. Azeroth new reborn state which adds a new view and more enjoyable gameplay with the update models version of the game. My point was to update the game as much as i could with the new models introduced in the latest game expansions and replace those old crusty models of the past without ruining the feel of old classic wow.
After Release updates (v1.3):
So, here we are with the last version of the mod. Two years has passed since I started to mod this game version and I can say that I enjoy it very much as I enjoy seen and play the classic game version with the updated models. This version now includes some of the latest models that released with Battle of Azeroth thought due to recent changes that Blizz made to the models system they made it almost impossible to convert them to classic or downport and glitch beyond fix. I would like to thank everyone that helped and assist during the mod creation and progress as also testing before any release was made.
New Additions :
*For sake of simplicity and after many requests now Balsh Character models are merged with my mod.
*New world models added
*Replaced Class Icons in character creation screen with a better and detailed version
*Replaced party icons when in not in range to reflect the new modern icons
*New loading screens added from Battle of Azeroth
*New character screen race icons from Legion
*New models added from Battle of Azeroth and Cata
*Replaced some class weapons models and World drop weapons from Legion, WoD, WotLK (Warrior, Priest, Rogue,
Druid, Shaman, Hunter, Warlock)
*Replaced some weapons models from [Quest:The Argent Hold] from Legion
*Replaced Shaman Stormstrike spell icon with the one from the current game version
*Replace Warlock's spells and icons with Cataclysm Fel version of the spell
*Replaced "Knight's Colors Tabard" and "Stone Guard's Herald Tabard" from Legion
*Elemental models are returned to their default models state
After release updates (v1.2):
New changes are here. Thanks to Drood182 and Leeviathan from Modcraft by creating those awesome mods. Leeviathan for the High Elves and the Chinese version for the Undead models but as also the fix for tabarbs and fine tuning general the WoD character models and Drood182 for creating new skins for the tiger model. So now i have update Balsh mod to be compatible with the High Elves model as also with the general extra fixes.

*Abominations model update
*Ghouls model update
*New Skybox for Stratholme (Orgirmmar Raid skybox used for that)
*Paladin's Charger model update
*Warlock's DreadSteed model update
*Treasure Chest model update
*Fixed Druids Gift of the Wild spell icon
*Reworked skins for the Tiger model (by Drood182)
*Balsh Character models reworked including: Tabarbs, removed doubled polygons, undead features reworked plus higher-res bone textures (by Leeviathan) *
*New Undead Character model - Chinese Version (by Leeviathan)
BARE in mind, all 3 mods, the creatures, Balsh Char mod and Leeviathan Chinese version can work together. DONT USE my version of Balsh link from here if you want only the character models. Use the STAND ALONE VERSION from Modcraft. Also i'll advice don't change the order of the patches, is been tested to work that way, unless you are aware of what you doing.
* Completely reworked character models for Balsh's WoD Character Models 1.12.1 models, use in tandem with Balsh's mod. Fixes include: corrected tabard UV mapping for all, removed doubled polygons (mainly doubled belt meshes, this fixes transparency on things like ghost form), undead features reworked + higher-res bone textures + some miscellaneous corrected textures, rogue vertex tamed on tauren male, some corrected textures for tauren females, tons of hair UV fixes and un-decimated dwarf beards.
After release updates (v1.1):
I made a major optimization on the patch by removing models that was bugged, like alpha test models, some unnecessary textures and things wasn't need to be there anymore. So now patch is more easier to get since its capacity reduced drastically but remain same. Also i changed and distinguished the PvP mounts so to have a different look from the normal ones since aren't obtained easily.

*New Login screen,
*New Loading screens and loading bar,
*New Character Icons on character creation screen,
*60% Raptor Mounts are updated to the new model,
*Deathcharger's Reins is updated to the new model,
*Horn of the Frostwold Howler is updated to the new model,
*PvP Mounts are now distinguished from the standard mount.
Under WiP:
* Armors / Weapons mod -> 80% Completed
After release updates (v1.0):
There was some minor bugs found after release and thanks to many people reporting them, so i could fasttrack them and apply a fix .
Keep reporting in case you find something weird but also check if this was already reported or fixed already.
Critical :
* Ouro's attacks fixed [Now working - REPORT AGAIN IN CASE OF PROBLEM]
Reported misbehaved models:
* Ohgan missing armor textures fixed [Raptor AQ boss]
* Berserk Owlbeast Creature missing textures fixed
* Frostsaber Pride watcher models fixed
* Princess Yauj, Lord Kri and Vem missing wings textures fixed
* Update Ouro's model to Cata
Known Bugs :
* Under Shaman Ghostwolf form if you attack your weapons appear
* Some Fly path mounts cameras are off positions, like higher
* Gryphon model has a minor bug on attack and turns out funny
Those unfortunately cant fixed, made several tries but none worked. In case someone knows he can inform me and apply the fix.

How to install:
1 .Download first all 4 parts, its in a compressed rar file,
2. Put it where ever you like and extract it so it will give you the patch file,
3. Move the file under Data Warcraft folder, I.e : [C:WoW game folderData ],
4. Delete your WDB cache folder [its good to delete often]
5. Balsh character models (http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=10799) mod !
WARNING : In case you have Kowards patch, you don't need it anymore since i have already merge it with mine.

So here we are after a long journey that finally ends. I enjoy that trip to newly modding ground as WoW offers. I want to thanks to many modders here in the modeling community that help me to overpass many weird things as also to learn many new things in the area of wow modding. Also want to thank in advance Koward for his awesome work in his tool. Many thanks to Nanoxo,Mumblz, Finsternis for their additions in the texture area as also Exonis for some model fix additions to the BETA and Magnifican for the last final tests and suggestions.

:( You have to be ingame to enable them. They are under Video options, Shaders.

Max the slider of anisotropic filtering. When i tried to lower graphics i had such effects, at the present time im on all settings set to max. Now not sure if also you have to update a vga driver. Give it a try.

Sorry "Uthil"! I did everything as you said. But the patch still work not correctly. Human and Dwarf full working. Another part is 50% to 50%. The screen character creation works, but models not work. Sorry, if I spending your time. Your work is best!! (Sorry for my English I am from Ukraine). :( :( :( :(

No, but the past days im having a H/W issue with my computer Mobo. This the 1st day that his getting fully on and working not sure if its going operate later this day after i shut down. So ill make the post now cause dont know how its going to be the next days. That unfortunately is stalling me but im afraid that my computer is leaving me and i might have to move my project to my oldest and computer, which is really really lower end. :cry: :cry: :cry:
I finalize the armors and going to recheck them soon. Added Quel'Sellar, Mantokir's Sting, Hoodoo Bow.

I had already started to work T3 and alpha testiong the T0 and T0.5 before the problem with my mobo occures. Going to see if i can skip the problem somehow or going to be permanent.

Well don't know if this can be fixed. Balsh made the character model's and probably might have to look at this. But as I said not sure if this can be fixed now.

So, I loaded both your patch and the character models patch. Combined, your patch seems to have fixed the bug where the improved character models patch would refuse to play the unsheathed animations. However, it had an unexpected effect on the kobolds in Northshire Valley...

Did you get the correct characters patch ? Balsh has released 2 versions, one stand alone and one for my patch. The same issue occurred to others and they had download the wrong patch.

Do you have the deathknight textures, both mythic and normal ? Seems for some reason when i access the casc files from retail with either tomruss or casc explorer all of them tend to have corrupted textures in different spots, like i have both chests M-F textures corrupted, rest are good but again foot textures corrupted. All color variations have at least 1 or 2 corrupted textures.

You have Balsh character models patch ? If yes check which version since he has made 2. Check carefully his links.

One of you should really consider just remove that druid form so it doesnt conflict anymore. This causes way to much issues for people just because of one single form. Maybe you can remove it so the patches will be 100% compatible with each other without the need for multiple versions?

It's not doable cause you need to edit a creature dbc for the druid forms and I'm pretty sure the very same file contains other modifications in Uthil's patch. It's not our problem if people can't read.
or maybe if I rename my standalone version like patch-3 and uthil's one patch-4 it might just work idk.
I had to make it a higher number to overwrite his character models during beta.

And i was testing after BETA fixes having mine set as patch-3 and Balsh like patch-4 or 5. So the complete set of both of us was like having my creatures mod as first and character models as last. Yes i have many records to the DBCs that i cant reverse. People must pay attention to a topic and not click and go.

Three times re-download, please check yourself. (Sorry for my english, I'm Russian)

I've checked the download links all work fine. I decompressed the file and its ok. So seems when you downloading it some or one file gets corrupted. Try to get them one by one if you haven't done like that before not all together.

I'll need some time to upload in google drive those 4 files and give you a link for them to test. But my upload speed is crap so every file needs at least 20m-25m . Wait a pm in the next 2 days.

Can you pm me a link to test ? Dont know what i speeds i can reach with the virtual server, since my upload speed varies, sometimes im stuck on 0.7 and most of times drop stuck at 0.5 or 0.4. Really shitty, none of the ISP's here have a decent upload speed, unless if i update my normal ADSL+2 to VDSL 50 and do it like a boss.

The answer is already given in the previous page(s), you must have installed wrong version of Balsh patch. Check better. ;)

delete WTF and cache files. and check if you have other patches

Also when a model is white in my case, since everything was triple checked before release, means that you have to reload ui or refresh game somehow to show it to you. As Picolo said a full reset of you account settings (WTF) folder and also a constant cache deletion (WDB) might prevent of this happening,
Also your graphics under Video Options must have ALWAYS Vertex Animation Shaders checked and Anisotropic Filtering slider set to MAX. The MOD is made under HIGH SETTINGS on graphics, lowering those might cause you weird behavior. After all vanilla isnt a heavy game, even in default models you can set everything to High, even from the .ini file.Enjoy and thanks that you like the mod.

Ya this happend on wotlk too.
I was to lazy (if this my textures^^) , and somtimes it wont work to cut all textures to the power of two for example 256x256 or 512x512.
They have 512x1024, than the streaming not work correct, but what uthil said just reload ui if this not work, go out of view range and back.^^

Enable Trilinear Filtering. About dwarves those textures in the back, i have notice them too. Im working it to see if i can fix it. Might be a downport problem from the tools since are beta and give errors or i might not be able to fix, tho again it isn't a big of a deal that dwarves login screen.

Thanks for the suggestions. All are awesome and specially that loading bar. I always wanted to change it tho since im working a small update on the general mod i was going to start messing it afterwards. No. I have made some attepmts but didnt succeed. Since in WotLK the water dbc has more records and the handling comes from the dbc when in classic it has textures. If any thinks can pull it off and make it work that would be awesome. There is already a same think for wotLK version in case you want to start looking.

I think old nost didnt had a launcher and still they could ban kowards first release. Even if he merge his patch through the default people report that was ban due to modified files. So i guess they have also another way to check game files so im not sure that i can do anything.

Yeah, you will have to get the new files again, because the patch is kinda big i had to plit in lower capacities so all can get it pretty fast. Armor patch would be a separate file that you can add or not if you dont. Im kinda slucking these days so soon ill start re working it.

Everything looks great, the only bug I could possibly complain about is the spotlight effect with the Undead character selection, but other than that. I've paired your mods with Darker Nights and Balsh's mod, everything has been great!

If you turn Anistropic Filtering to max and Vertex Animation Shaders on the spotlights will stop. ;)

Not sure why you still get those beams. Maybe check your vga card driver. Also i dont use vert sync and tripple buffering.

It's not just me who has it, the people I recommended the mod to also have it. We have varying PCs ranging from GTX 970s to AMD Radeon 285s. Doesn't seem to matter which configuration. There's probably a lot of variables, for example, we are always using the most up to date OS's and drivers. By the way, verticle sync and triple buffering are specifically related to smoothness and capping FPS. As expected it doesn't make a difference turning those off. Thanks for the help though, we have just learned to deal with it.

So I started removing some things that I don't fancy with the MPQEditor ( Spirit Healer, Class and Faction UI icons ) and wanted to ask you if that will break something in someway. Also what are the names of the Mana Shield and Priest's shield, because I want to get the old ones back (the new ones are over the top for me).

No those changes will not brake something, delete then only DivineBubble_Low_Base / DivineShield_Low_Base / DivineShield_Low_Chest / Holydivineshield_state_base and you will be ok.

Thanks for the updates! Personally, the only thing that bothers me is the changes to the faction and class icons, they feel pretty out of place to me considering retail is a bit more classic in this regard. Love the new loading screens and especially the login screen.

I would like to inform then that i had to re-up since i had forgot to remove an aplha version of UD mount that im working so people that have skeletal horse they have the bugged version. Anyway now i made the fix so all good.

OK thanks for the info. Ill look at it since i haven't experience such problem yet. Also if not sure how its going to behave in case you might using an extra graphics enhancement, like reshade or similar. Had such issues you mention when i was testing with reshade and ENBSeries. Without those two and a normal *.ini file im ok, im running tho under an ATI4850HD, since my GTX was overcooked :( but yet no major issues in normal cases with exception of raids that i had some fps drops.

Just for more information, I'm also using SweetFX 1.4, Config.wtf edited for maximum graphics and playing on 1440p resolution. Using VSync caped at 96FPS, GPU usage is around 30% (disabling VSync does't solve this issue). My system is i7-4790k, GTX 1070.
My friend has his game setup exactly like mine but he is playing on lower resolution on AMD CPU (don't know which one) and GTX 760.
The game (even absolutely clean game) for me and other people seems to have the same issue (low FPS and FPS/GPU spikes every second or two) everywhere (even in the logging screen). Running TeamSpeak or Chrome (not as reliable as TeamSpeak) in the background solves this problem. I think I can rule this out, because when I was experiencing the low FPS in Teldrassil while there was heavy rain (light rain doesn't cause this) I was running TeamSpeak in the background and the FPS was stable stable 96 everywhere except when there was heavy rain. And I have experienced multiple heavy rains in Teldrassil with and without the mod, so it's not some one time thing, it's a consistent problem.

I would like to give me some more info, like on which server you are on ? have you got the newest version that i released with the optimization of the file ? you said that you faced the same issue even if game was under default state, means not custom patches . Currently on K1/K2 non report me such issue. Now not sure whats the impact of using Reshade/ENBseries when are set on kinda higher settings with Config.INI also set high, since my beast card died and i was under my old card but i had same issues of fps dive when was heavy rain in any area, but like i said i had im old card and thought it as a normal behavior since it isn't so good.

Ok ill investigate that Tedrasil area to see the behavior. Tho note since elysium has higher numbers than Kronos in general, lagging effects count towards to such behavior.

I have the same thing happen to me. I can easily get 200+ FPS on this PC at highest settings, however, in Tedresill, it drops FPS when raining heavy.

Yeah cause they dont support them. It suppose to be a fly mount only creature so the specific model have those animation, i had notice them to since its very first change.

No its normal, only the PvP mount has the burning hooves effect as the old classic model since blizz decide to start removing effect from many models in WoD/Legion. Im working a version so i'll replace the existing one with the same but with those effects as long as im waiting also 7.2 to go live before i make any more changes to my patch.

The tauren, gnome and dwarf background are all buggy, idk if this is a matter with the game resolution or something. I play at 1600x900
also some creature models have black textures, i mean, the hydras have their heads painted in black, kobolds with the skull in their heads are all black too and sons of cenarius have their belts also in black.

It seems that you might have installed the wrong patch from Balsh. He has 2 versions, one to use without my mod and one to use with my mod. If that is your case pick the other one and also delete your cache folder (WDB folder).

Okay i did that, but the bug still there and now with the ''patch-6.mpq'' added every time i try to launch the game it starts with 800x600 resolution and don't let me change it, i tried editing the resolution config.wtf but when i run the game again it's reset back to 800x600... something that didn't happen to me with the other patch.
Is there some way to fix this?
Edit: I just realized that the background bug still appears without the balsh mod... may is there something wrong with my data folder?

Yeah then seems that might be a problem with your client or wow.exe file. Ok i rar mine, its from my original wow cd installation check if that solves your issue, else ill suggest to find a clear client.

Finally fixed those small bugs and from now on Warlocks and Cheat paladins can have enjoy their Epic mounts. Also fixed Druid "Gift of the Wild" spell icon so now it has the one that was added in TBC and on.

Thanks that you like the mod, hope you enjoy it more as progress through levels and meet more changes. Armor mod cant be released since many armor, not the complete ones, are missing either head items or shoulder items, and since model is changed it will display a cube. Not so good to see a cube on your char. From september i'll start working it again in order to complete it. Cheers!

How can I remove the warlock mount model? Removing the folder "WarlockMount" inside "Creatures" folder only makes the fires and smoke coming out of the mane green and doesn't remove the horse model.

Nooo, not cause of that. Its cause since patch 7.3 and new security system that makes the port impossible. Before 7.3 didn't had much issues. Also another obstacle is that Kowards tool since is beta sometimes it creates issues to the model that i work which I need to find another approach in order to back port it. And my last obstacle unfortunately is free time which I don't have at the moment available. :( ;D

On the other hand the new class and race icons looks strange and hard to recognize without point it with the mouse and get some info what exactly is that, but it's not huge pain since you don't make new characters everyday. But the loading screen is just awful looks so ancient with that low resolution and the picture is not good at all. Anyway that's a few little details that I dislike, may be some other guys likes a lot.
And one question, what exactly is Leeviathan Chinese version? I test it but I really couldn't see the difference?

Leeviathan version has undead full body, without the bone gaps in legs and elbows in.

Nooo, not cause of that. Its cause since patch 7.3 and new security system that makes the port impossible. Before 7.3 didn't had much issues. Also another obstacle is that Kowards tool since is beta sometimes it creates issues to the model that i work which I need to find another approach in order to back port it. And my last obstacle unfortunately is free time which I don't have at the moment available. :( ;D
Ah oki. Dont work much with 7.3 yet, but i unterstand both ^^.

Well, even if it is a nice idea, you will need to edit them with photoshop and make them usable for vanilla. Those are to be used for retail only. And when you manage to edit/convert the files, you will have to create a new patch file that will override the one you use now.
Have a look here how Phantom converts the files for WotLK, same procedure for Vanilla, and get to work.

I want to make a suggestion and that is... please revert the icons of all classes to their original ones, it's a creative modification that you use different icons but since each one of them are circles they're hard to recognize because in most modified UIs where the class icon is displayed in some corner of the player/target bar they're too small so that's why ppl could have a bad timetrying to guess which is the class of a player toon in the distance.
So that's my one and only request from your mod, cuz i think everything else is pretty much amazing. Thx for your time!

You can actually manually delete them if you like by deleting the UI-CharacterCreate-Classes.blp file from Interface/Glues folder. Tho i believe most addons that add classes icons use their own and not one from the original game.

Hello again, man. I think I noticed at some point that the mechanical dragon whelp texture was off. Has this been fixed?
Have you worked on the weapons and gear since? It's been a long time since I touched the MPQs; I've been playing with lua mostly so I barely remember what's where :)

No I didnt know that mechanical text was off. I have to reset it back to the normal model then. Unfortunately no much time to continue on weapons/armors version. It is postponed at the moment since Im working the last version of my patch. I'll make soon a mega update here on what changes occurred till now.

So, I made some more additions on the mod. Those will be the final ones added since I dont have free time to continue on as also the difficulties that I have find on BfA models in order to make some of those work for vanilla. I present you the last changes added:

Unfortunately Soul Fire cant be changed since it shares same records with Mage Pyroblast and it will alter mages spell. Spells affected with Fel are : Immolate, Rain of Fire, Hellfire, Searing Pain, Conflagrate

Nope, if you refer to the wow.exe rar file you see there its a backup of mine retail cd installation for those that used to have a modified client version, like feenix and they couldn't run the mod. By replacing the file game was running normally.

Can you post a shot of your settings ? Did you update your vga card drivers? Anyone reported such issue either had his settings kinda low or drivers not updated. Other than that only beams on undead might appear on some newer cards. Sorry cant be fixed.

Well kinda sad... I'm using exactly same settings as you, except screen resolution...
Btw also I found one annoying bug with ALL weapons.
Red(but I think its based on zone you're using it, also seen darker ones in some locations) weapon swings. Almost not seen while attacks, but with Whirlwind and some more abilities... Btw thats stops after you re-equip weapons or entering some instance(loading process req). Thats looks kinda like wotlk swings, but kinda wierd on vanilla:

First time I notice this, not sure if this something from the mod. If remember correct I havent change Whirlwind spell from warrior, cant say, need to check my notes for what spells got affected. Tho isnt I believe a huge issue, I see like more normal, you know, effects after the spell is done.

Nah, thats not WW issue. Thats weapons issue. I think thats part of WotLK added "attack tail"

How can I remove the Alliance / Horde login screens, loading bar and class icons from the character creation? I think they are a bit excessive.

You will need an MPQ editor to edit my patch file, then you will have to navigate to Interface\Glues and delete the folders loading screens/bars. From the CharacterCreate folder remove the UI-CharacterCreate-Classes.blp and you are done.

And last but not least, i want to report a bug with the spirit of ressurection at the graveyards... Her model is all covered by a giant white texture that makes her look like a big white triangle, but when looking through the triangle you can clearly see that the model has no missing textures or anything. So i don't really know why is that happening

Hey, I have already tried to import the quilboars models but unfortunately they were crushing client without been able to understand why. I even edit model in blender and reimport it back to the game didn't worked.
Cata goblins was also had some issue's, but didn't had much free time to finalize and re test model, add that also the process requires a lot of dbc edits too.
As for that issue with the spirit healer I would like to ask what is your video settings, try to max anisotropic fiktering bar and enable vertex animation shader. In general game can be set to max graphics from the video options. I run it in a fourteen year old pc with ATI Radeon HD 4870 in the beginning which I replaced with a ATI Radeon HD 6670 and had always descent FPS in game.
