AlphaMap - Mountains

Hello, I want to ask how to create nice mountains for alphamaps with GIMP or something like this. I see that the most user use Photoshop, but i dont want to crack it. So i want to use GIMP but i have no Idea how to paint mountains. Its very difficult with the mouse, so i hope that anyone help me :)

I would recommend you to get Photoshop because it has a lot of advantages comparing to Gimp. You're doing partially illegal modding, so stop caring about cracks. Almost all the people I know have pirated PS because it costs quite a lot. Speaking about alphamaps, follow Axel's advice.
