New MPQ corrupting WoW....

Hey guys... I followed the guide on custom adts, wdt's and dbcs in the level design tutorial section of the forum.
Every time I put my new adt / wdts and dbcs into a new .MPQ it corrupts my client...
I take the patch.MPQ out of my data folder, and wow refuses to launch.
giving me the error..."unable to open video hardware.dbc"
I noticed no one else is really having this problem.
so I thought maybe someone could help me a little more in detail as to do this.
I am obviously doing something really wrong with the files to make them corrupt my whole client.
