[QUESTION] converting wcIII mdx to m2 large file.

(1/3) > >>

Serifaz:
Hey guys I have a somewhat large file I am trying to convert for my login screen on ashbringer...
but every time I try to convert it the mdx to m2 client crashes.

Is there another way to do this. or is my model simply to big / small.
I am going to post a picture of what I am trying to achieve.

I am trying to take this mdx of the NE TFT Campaign, take out the Night Elf and keep the animations
and turn it into an m2 which I can make the login screen for ashbringer.

This is a picture of the mdx in game.

Here are the files... would love if someone could help me

SirFranc:
I don't recommend you to use it, it's quite low poly, and animations are not well supported, besides, Wc3 models are oversized compared to WoW models and would look ubergiant

Serifaz:
Ok thanx is there any way to make my own?
with a custom model?

Jack:
You shouldn't be brought down by the two facts SirFranc mentioned. Resizing the models is a built in function in most converters so I guess this won't be a problem. Low Poly is definitly true for the character and environment models but the login screens are actually pretty "normal" Low Poly, especially when compared to WoW Classic models I'd dare to say the polycount is pretty much equal.
And then I guess it would be a major improvement to those uber shitty recolored "ololol Cust0m Log1n!11"s from MMowned etc  :ugly:

As far as I know it does require you to build a custom camera into the model to be able to use it as Login Screen and the count of people able to do that is at least from those I personally know of around 2 or 3 ;)
And lots of hex editing, no tools.
Compared to the size and polycount I guess this is quite a bit more of a problem

Serifaz:
Thanx again... I appreciate all the input you guys have given me I will try my best to do what is possible in this scenario

[EDIT] I would really really like to get this working. if anyone can just take the mdx and turn it into an m2 for me I can do the rest I just need the mdx converted.
I know that may sound really stupid, seeing as it is probably quite a task.
but I figured someone could either guide me through how to do this, or do it for me.
I just want to get it working.
also if I wanted to design my own login m2 how would I go about putting in animations and such...
I think this is the reason I thought I would just use an mdx from wcIII.

I can provide the mdx to whoever can convert it,
or help me do this.
