Thank you for your answer, I'm so disappointed :D

My dream was to create a kangaroo, the model is done but if I can't animate it... it will not be a kangaroo lol

Modelling and Animation / [QUESTION] Create a mount from A to Z
« on: January 27, 2016, 03:02:22 pm »
Hi everyone,

I didn't find the answer to that question, is it possible to create an entire .M2 with custom animations, custom model ?

If it is, and if you know where I can find a tutorial (probably in more than 1 part ha ha), please tell me what I have to be looking for

I know how to create 3D models (I often use C4D, but I'm learning how blender works and can learn anything else if needed), but I didn't find how the animations are managed and how it must be created to work in-game.

I'm ready to learn anything, also if I have to spend months into my project, but I don't know what I have to search.
The fact I'm french doesn't help too, because I don't know each english term of what I have to do. But I'm a good student :D

Thank you for any help/answer !

Modelling and Animation / Re: [REQUEST] Edit m2s in Blender Tutorial
« on: January 25, 2016, 10:21:03 am »
Hi there,

Like Vortalex, I'm stuck as soon as I try to download any program to edit/create anything for wow.

There are lots of tutorial here, it's really cool to see that so much people tried to help the others (like me ^^) and spent so much time to write their tutorials :)

Where I'm stuck is often the same thing : when they say we have to DL wow model viewer, M2MOD, or any program, those programs don't work with the others (blender for example) and we're stuck because we don't know which version of the programs we have to find to complete the tut's.

Sometimes, the forum attachements are broken too, and we can't complete the tutorial.

For sure, if the method didn't change, no need to rewrite a tutorial but if someone here can put a list of links to download the right programs it'll be really helpful ^^'

I know the time this person will spend to put it, and I know nobody has the task to help the newbies like me. But I'll be happy to be able to modify anything if someone can tell what we need to DL, for sure.

I hope everyone will understand what I try to tell, my english is really bad but as for my wow moding level, I try to enhance it ^^'

It seems I have another problem to edit anything :/

I've DL all the tallstrider files (M2, skins and all the .BLP files too) and used M2MOD REDUX 4.6.1 to convert the .M2 file to a .M2i.

It's ok, it works. In the M2MOD folder, there are 3 python scripts that seems to be needed to open a .M2i file with blender (I've downloaded first the 2.76 version, but as said in the readme file, M2MOD works with blender 2.73 then I'm now using it).

I tried to open the scripts (open, navigate to the place they are, and clicked on "show script files". I tried to open the 3 scripts, no one works --'

I don't know how I can edit this .m2i, there are so much versions of each tool I can't find any solution that works alone :(

If somebody around here could help me to solve it, I'll be glad ^^'

I apologize to come with so much noobs questions, it's probably really easy for y'all but I feel lost right now...

Thank you for reading/helping me :)

EDIT : Finally, it took me around 8 hours to find where the mater was : the script files have to be paste in the blender script folder directly. And not anywhere else in the subfolders.

Now, I have to understand why M2MOD crashs when I try to convert my new .M2i in .M2.
Moder's life isn't a piece of cake, but it's so intersting... ^^

Modelling and Animation / [QUESTION AGAIN] Model editing for wow 2.4.3
« on: January 23, 2016, 07:17:01 pm »
Hi to everyone,

First, I apologize for my bad english, 'cause I'm french and learned it all alone.

I would like to modify some creatures to add a saddle and reins on it, to create a better mount with mobs (right now, I work on a Tallstrider).

I (think I) know that the file is a .m2 I have to extract from the COMMON.MPQ in the data folder, I did it. I'm stuck when I try to convert this old .M2 to a .M2i I should be able to open with blender.

I (think I) know how to convert it in .obj using wow model viewer (I used it to model the saddle and reins) because it seems it was the shortest way to create forms around the tallstrider.

Now, the texture is ok but I lost myself into the tutorials here... Sometimes the links are broken, sometimes the programs don't work with my wow version sadly.

If you can give me a link to the tutorial you think I need to follow to complete my task, or simply teach me how to find a compatible version of the programs I need, you'll be my all time heroe =)

For sure I'm not the first guy who tries to do it, but it's a pain to do it on a 2.4.3 (burning crusade) version ^^'

Thanks a lot for your help and for everything on this forum. It helped me a lot to understand how wow is working :)
