I understand im using northrend and outlands recreation for my Dark Crusade project.
I am considering renaming the zones to suit the zones due to the orginal zones already having maps.

renaming orginal areas/instances to adapt to the dark crusades recreations. because the blizzard areas's has maps for guideance.

You never asked. You always do statements.
Do it if you think it fits ? If they do, do it. These are your modifications.

Are you asking whether you should name your zones to fit the content you put in it, while retaining the geography of Northrend and Outland as a base?

- So you want to say you are using blizzard adts for your zone. Questions here are:
1. Did you just rework the adts and leave them where they are?
2. Did you copy the adts to the same map and create new reagions.
3. Or to another map and create there new reagions.
4. Or even did you create a full new map with them.

- You are considiring to add own area IDs and link them to the adt to get own names for your zone.
So my meening is... absolutly. You creat an own zone and this need own names, minimaps, map and everything else that belongs to a own zone. Also music map and many things else are linked over area ids so own are also technical needed.
So a big YES ;)

There is no changes to the zones but is seperate to the orginal 531 = Blizzard zone 1242 = recreation with no changes. i made Map.dbc link to the orginal one. but as i stated the blizzard zone has a maps so why not rename the existing zones to adapt to the new ID.
531 - Zone + maps (changed to new names for 1242)
1242 - Zone + Purpose for new name due to having no maps.

So you wont to have a copy of the map?
Then you have to copy and rename the files also, then you can change your DBC entry and you have a full copy.
My opinion is to always use new IDs and files and never just swap or overwrite stuff.
If I want to retexture a model i copy to have also the original. Same with maps.
