Title: [QUESTION] WoD character models
Post by: zepidel on February 26, 2014, 10:35:58 pm
Will these be able to be ported to earlier versions of the game? For instance if I was playing on 2.4.3, would I be able to port the updated character models from WoD to TBC and play?

I see big problem with UV maps. WoD Characters have a two side normal texture and old wow version have a armory created for mirror texture.

Hearthstone beta eventually had everyone in the closed beta. Maybe 10% of all players weren't. Heck, I was invited multiple times on one account.

I don't think it would be do-able for 95% of the modding community. Myself included. Have you tried converting the Hozen and Female Pandaren models?

I know a lot of guys who can fully convert these models. However, I haven't tried myself only because I don't need these models.

The problem with those models (and I suspect the same of the new WoD models) seems to be that there are too many geosets for the client to handle. You can remove geosets using a hex editor (which is what I did). I was able to get 1 female pandaren model to work (the pandaren prisoner) but all the rest had missing body parts. Some geosets seems to be important for some models, and not so important for other models.

Will the WoD models be portable? Most likely, yes - with the right skill set. Perhaps between now and then someone will share their strategy for converting these models.
