Title: [MPQ] Change max file size?

Hello everyone,

I am compiling a new patch for my server on Ladik's MPQ Editor, however, the patch is too big. I would like to keep my patch into 1 MPQ instead of dividing it into 2 MPQs.
I've noticed that the max MPQ size is around 3.99GB.
I was wondering if there was anyway where I could increase the MPQ size limit?
I would like to expand it to go to around 5GBs or 6GBs.

If there is anyway to do this, or if you have an idea on how to do this, then please do help out.

I think you'd get a faster and more realistic response if you just emailed Ladislav(creator of the MPQ Editor), he's a nice guy to talk to, in my experiences, he's very friendly.

Though since you are going to ask him a technical question, be ready to be given a technical answer.

The max filesize of an MPQ using the ZLIB Compression is 3.99 Gigabytes. This is the Limit he is talking about. Not File Count Limit.  The other Compression systems can have a larger size but they are pretty volatile at really large sizes, atleast in my experiences with them, having a 9gb patch has sometimes had the listfile ignored and other times the Client can't read the patch anymore after going so high.

That's interesting. Could be because I'm using a slightly newer version of the MPQ Editor.

Wow! I never knew that was possible...
I'm going to try what you said again (although I already did), hopefully I'll come out with a better result.

Also, just to clarify... You made a 24Gb .mpq patch, all in 1 patch?

Yeah i extracted 450k of files from WOD converted all M2s thru CataToLk.exe and throwed it all into one patch
