[QUESTION] Disconnect at login (Custom Model)
« on: August 16, 2013, 08:25:25 am »
Hey

I recently worked out how to move models from Cataclysm and MOP to 3.3.5, however.. im having trouble moving creatures from higher expansions to cataclysm, as far as i know.. everything is done correctly, DBCs are located in the servers DBC folder, inside the patch along  with the creature folder required

however, when i logon... i get disconnected, no error.. just disconnected and i have no idea as to why

Was also told, that mop models moved to 4.0 wouldn't need to be edited because their the same, this would be correct?

Ive uploaded a copy of the patch, so anyone whos willing to help can check to see if im not being retarded.

Try changing lines in CreatureModelData,
change .m2 to .mdx

Hey

I tried what you said by making it .mdx but the disconnect still happens, i've also tried to make it the same case as it is in the patch (not full caps) and i still get disconnected without an error.

However, when i remove the actual files from the patch and login, i don't get disconnected so it could be a problem with the files im using causing it?

Tried with another NPC, still disconnects when i try to login, so im thinking i would need to make the skin files work with 4.0.6? though i was told they use the same system so wouldn't need to edit them.

The disconnect has nothing to do with your patch, since I can log into my 406a client just fine with your patch installed in my data folder.

When you move m2/skin files from MoP to Cataclysm, you don't need to do anything to the actual files, m2/skin files didn't change between Cataclysm and Mis of Pandaria, same goes with WMO's.... otherwise this wouldn't have been easily done...

4.0.6a client:

dbc editing needs to be done where required but as for m2/skin/wmo's.. nothing needs to be done, so you can throw out your statement of making skin files work for cataclysm.

There are better ways of making a patch for cataclysm, the way how you have it, it only works for enUS game clients, I had to modify your patch to make it work on my enGB game client.
