Im basically creating the world in 3.3.5a, by following the tutorial on this forum, and using the ADT converter to convert it to cataclysm.
I re-used a map instead of creating a new one. But when I go to it, I just get disconnected from the server.
People have used this map before and not DC'd so its not the server doing it, my friend even tried to teleport there also with my map, he didn't get disconnected, but he couldn't see any land or anything.
Is there any tutorials or something for this?

corrupted adts?
and did you consider that you have to adjust your adts to cataclysm.
also your friend didn't add them to the latest patch.

What do I have to do other than using the converter?
-
do you have water in the adt before converting them

I've done some simple builds. Nothing huge. There are some unknowns as long as people don't comment on how it works.
However, a server DC rarely happens because of a custom (clientside) build. I personally put my maps on PvPZone02 (Azshara Crater) and works fine unless I use the wrong models (WoD ones).
Just to give some tips for Cataclysm (And MoP(?), haven't tried).
- Use GruulMe for WDT editing. It supports WotLK, Cataclysm and MoP.
- Don't add water before converting, it is supposed to be possible but bugs at times when converting. Gretchin's Allwater tool can hack the water in Cataclysm ADTs after being converted. Avoid the Noggit Water function at all times.
- Try working without post-Cataclysm models to see if it's those that are causing problems. They should work fine, but sometimes they don't.

Wow thanks! This all works!
I have a few more questions though.
1) When I create new ADT's they are very dark and the chunk gets lighter when I edit it in noggit. Why is this?
2) My friend is trying to port MoP maps to Cata, so I set the Cata flag and removed the MoP flag. He sees the shadow of the island. (The WDL part) but when he gets closer he crashes. Is this because the adt doesnt work with Cata, as it was for MoP, or is he crashing because objects that we don't have are trying to load?

No problem.

It's an issue with the ADT creation, it sets a shadow flag on the entire adt. By editing it gets removed, which is good. Just use a 1000 radius and a 0 brush speed to do it without problems.

Probably both. MoP is not completely backwards compatible with Cataclysm, but missing WMOs and M2s are also a cause for crashes.
