[SOLVED] [QUESTION] windows 7 problems.
« on: March 04, 2012, 06:37:24 am »
Im having a problem i have not encountered before and could really use some help. I am upgrading from an old 2.4 server i have been runnin for a long time to a wotlk server. pre cataclysm. i run the server with no problems. i made some custom patches. right now am just playing it over a lan on a couple laptops with xp on them. i brought my nephew over to copy the wotlk onto his computer with the custom patches. its the same install i am using on the xp laptops. just copied over. he has the 2.4 version from the older server i ran on his laptop. his laptop is running windows 7. when i run wotlk on his it doesnt load any of the custom patches. it connects to the server over the lan just fine but warcraft errors out with the error 134 i think it is. none of the changes i made show in the creation screen. the exe had already been cracked with the appropriate unsig. as i said i have been using it on the xp machines with no problems. when i try to log in it loads all the way then errors out. i imagine because it needs the custom dbc files i provided in my patches. i am at a loss for this one. i tried looking up some answers but i dont even know quite how to search for something like this. any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Try to clear everything inside WTF and Cache folder and run again.

disregard this. i didnt solve it exactly but found something out that will help. I copied the files onto his laptop from an external drive originally. so i tried plugging the external into his laptop and tried just running it off of the external and it ran flawlessly. im not sure what the problem is but its not warcraft related. I will figure it out now. Thanks for the quick response and help.

Copy not all files clean. Use TeraCopy.
