I've searched these forums and others for the ability to edit .m2 files and apparently m2mod is the best way. btw: I am brand new to modelling but I'd like to try.
However, having tried m2mod4 and m2Redux, both get a corruption error when trying to convert the extracted panda character .m2s + .skins to m2i, merged with MPQeditor.
I figured maybe it was a bad mpq overwrite on Blizzard's part, so I've tried only the core mpqs, then I tried just the update mpqs, then just the cache/base mpqs, nothing. No combination seems to work.

So no one has any idea?
This is sort of the fundamental process of model editing a proprietary format, and yet a site for model editing can't tell me even that?

I'm having the same issue, can't figure it out. I know that there is a nude mod out but it is just the blps that were messed with and not the m2 file. I wish someone would respond to this thread.

this is how this forum works.... cool uh?
if you read the last threads of ppl you would see that almost only 10% are well answered, 60% are with some posts but not the real answer (neither somebody who can take your .m2 and help you out), and 30% that are not even answered... it just fcking sux.... enjoy it

panda character
Most tools just don't and won't ever work with Cataclysm or MoP. On a side note, I never heard of the latter tool. Another problem might be that you are missing .anim files.

Update MPQs don't contain the complete file, but only a binary difference most of the time, so using those files most likely never works. You need to use the patching mode provided by Ladik's MPQ editor. Cache MPQs are irrelevant. Still, the problem seems to be that you are editing files from a client that is not supported by the tools you use.

This might be a fundamental process of model editing _4.0 and up_, that's correct. But just _because_ it is a proprietary format, we are unable to help you. Have you ever tried reverse engineering a file format? Well, good luck, I did it for five years, as you can see on pxr.dk/wowdev/wiki. It is a pain in the ass and won't ever result in perfect tools and documentation. Also, this site is on client and server side modifications, not on model editing. And especially not on 4.* and 5.* model editing.

I really don't think you have the same issue, but rather a similar one.

Well, that's a result of the questions asked either being fucking dumb (30%) ot that the question can't be answered because just nobody knows but people try hard to do so, just for you (60%). In the end, the forum seems to work out pretty fine to me: I deleted your account, as you seem to be an idiot and don't want to be on here anyway.
