-----------------------------------------------------

I'm MD, wich is a nickname, but I prefer to be called like this over the net.
I have modding experience in several games, always managed to learn if i wanted to achieve.
I Got into WoW Modding a couple years back, runned a server. Mainly for me and my friends.
Later I got more and more into custom stuff, wanted to get away from the whole blizz idea...
Deleted all the Quests, NPCs etc. Made my own Lore up, and added a whole new line of quests.
Custom weps, gear, you name it, I had it running.

A while back I ran into this community, wich shared my interest. Lurked about and created an account.
Then actually never did anything with it... well, not till recently!
I started posting stuff on the boards and I tried to get involved. Be an active part of this community.
I noticed Maruum. The completely community-made world. Nothing blizz about it. (exept the engine)
This was and still is totally awesome. This was kinda what I'd hoped to do.

A completely custom MMO running on the world's most famous RPG's engine, made by the community.
Custom Quests, NPC's, Item's. Even the world is custom made.

Who doesn't want to be a part of this amazing project!?
So that's why I'm applying.
Hoping that with the little knoweledge in WoW-modding I have, I can contribute somehow non the less.

-----------------------------------------------------

As of now, I'm able to:

- Manage, edit and add to the server DB-SQL (Quests, NPCs, Items, etc) TrinitySQL
- Edit some DBC files (Add worlds/zones to server, new items, etc)
- Edit blp files
- Create Custom Patches
- Create Concept Art (Taking Art classes at school)
- Intrested in story writing

I'm still reading through tutorials on the forums, trying to learn as much as possible.

Have you worked on other projects:

Apart from my servers I had on WoW, I never worked on any projects.
Being new to WoW-Modding in general.

-----------------------------------------------------

Even if I'm not accepted,
I wish this project good luck!

Serverside Modding / Re: [QUESTION] Reward player with buff
« on: January 04, 2014, 10:16:22 am »
Dear Deep6ixed,

General Idea of the spell:
- Increased attack power
- Lasts about 4 - 10 min

The attack power doesn't have to be extremely high.
The player will be around lvl 5-6 when taking the quest.
Also I wan't it to be available for all classes.

If you could help me on this, I'd really appreciate it.

Dear Deep6ixed,

This is the spell I'm referring to: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=5759
That could be the problem with this spell, i guess...  XD

So if this is indeed the problem... How can I edit the spell that it isn't Self-Targeting?
I've already located the spell in the Spell.dbc, but have no clue wich column to edit.

Thanks in advance,

Dear Steff,

Thanks for replying!

I just tested this out with a simple quest.
RewardSpell: 0
RewardSpellCast: 5759

When I clicked the 'Complete Quest' button, the NPC casted the spell on himself!
Nothing crashed, everything was fine, he just casted it onto himself!

Any ideas ?

Serverside Modding / [QUESTION] Reward player with buff
« on: January 03, 2014, 07:34:30 pm »
Dear Modcraft,

I want my player to be rewarded with a buff, as soon as he/she completes my quest.
When the player returns to the NPC, the NPC must cast the spell onto the player.

So in the quest DB, there is a column named 'RewardSpell' and 'RewardSpellCast'.
So I did a little internet search, and this is what I found:

Quote
--------------------------------------------------------------
RewardSpell
Spell that is shown to be casted on quest completion in the quest log.
Note that this spell will NOT be casted if RewardSpellCast is non-zero.
The spell in the other field will be casted instead,
in which case the spell here only serves as the visual in the quest log.

NOTE: This field comes straight from the WDB and should not be changed.

RewardSpellCast
Spell that will always be casted at player when completing the quest.
This can be learn spell and player learned some spell in result,
or buff spell, for example. If this field is non-zero then
this spell will ALWAYS be casted and the spell in RewardSpell will not.

NOTE: This field comes straight from the WDB and should not be changed.

I don't want my player to see what spell is going to be casted onto him.
So this leads me to believe that if I put the correct spell ID into 'RewardSpellCast' it should work.

HOWEVER!

It states that this field comes straight from the WDB and should NOT be changed.

So...   What should I do now?

Additional info:

- WoTLK 3.3.5a

Looks great.

Although I should have lowered those mountains a bit.
I Like the complete shot, can already picture the finished thing. With threes, right textures etc.
I can see this island work.

Keep it up.

Modelling and Animation / Re: Cataclysm Login Screen...

how do the cataclysm models look if you backport them from 4.3.4 to 3.3.5?

They'll look good. :)  You'll probably have some slight texture glitches at first (WMO's),
but don't ask me how to solve those XD

Some screenies of wroking Cata models in 3.3.5:

I'm not allowed to post links yet, so you'll have to delete the space on the first link.

EDIT: Try this tutorial for converting the models viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5457
I'm also able to paste links now, so the image's are fixed ;)

Dear Wolverine,

The blizzard logo on the bottom of the login-screen should be changed easily by creating a patch.
Maybe make sure this is your path:

Interface/GLUES/MainMenu/Glues-BlizzardLogo.blp

Try to create an new empty patch with just this logo and this structure.
Make sure the logo is 128x128 pixels large.

If you still have the standard blizzard logo poping up, then there is probably a higher patch, changing the logo.
Try copying your patch from the WoW/Data folder, and then also paste it in the WoW/Data/enUS folder.
(Mine is enUS, but it depends on your install language)
Then change the name of the patch to: patch-enUS-x.MPQ
With enUS being your language and X being the highest digit in the list. so 1-9.

Now you are sure to have your logo on the bottom. :D
IF not, you probably did something wrong...

About going back to WoTLK, it really depends on what you want for your server.
Are you going Blizzlike or fun-server?
If your going fun-server, then you don't really need Cata, and your fine with WoTLK.

How much work is there into your server as of now? Going back to WoTLK, your going to need to re-do stuff you already did. Is the login-screen worth this? Howmuch of your server is already done?

Hoped to be of any help,
-MD

Dear Wolverine,

Have you tried this tutorial by mordred?
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1652&hilit=mordred%27s

I  have personally never tested this tutorial to be working above patch 3.3.5a,
but you could give it a go, i guess.

This is awesome!

Got it to work with my server, only seeing some green textures on buildings...
If someone knows how to help me there, please do tell.

It's still awesome though, can't wait to get my custom pandaria story-line going.

-MD

EDIT:
I solved the problem!
When I merged the dungeon folder into my server,
the green textures on the buildings were gone!
