Title: [TUTORIAL:WotlK] Custome Models from Blender to WoW
Post by: Alastor on June 25, 2014, 12:17:24 am
Hi
There was an toons of Topics with models that was buggy like in Geosets/ texturest etc ... so i want to solve this all in one shot

OBJ to M2 - BLENDER WORKs TuTs & Models to Download

You Will Need

- BLENDER (ima using 2.69)
- OBJtoM2.exe
- Some Image Editor ( i have Zoner )
- 010 Editor + M2 Template
- and maybe notepad ++

EXPORT OPTION FOR BLENDER
(http://image.prntscr.com/image/2d6dfb3d254e4cdf8040e9093292f82a.png)

To prevent miss Rotated Model use these lines Like if Y been forward
(http://image.prntscr.com/image/39e361b8aef54c629f8814849ef1268c.png)

here is far better converting CMD script to use OBJToM2.exe that will help you make it faster and easier
-its deleting all MTL files in folder since they are not needed
-result M2 will be named just after OBJ that its converting
-texture path is right now set as WORLD but you can delete this part or make it empty and set texture path in blender as material name
-in last step its executing my script that will fix bouding boxes and increasing render radius and other craps
path to this script is hardcoded so you should change path for your own

FOR %%A in (*.obj) do set Modelname=%%A
set Modelname=%Modelname:.obj=%
FOR %%B in (*.obj) do ObJtoM2.exe "%%B" %Modelname% "WORLD"
FOR %%C IN (*.mtl) DO DEL %%C
FOR %%D in (*.m2) do 010editor "%%D" -script:"C:UsersAlexDocumentsSweetScape10 ScriptsAlastorScript01.1sc" -saveall -nowarnings -noui

TEMPLATE AND SCRIPT IN ATTACHMENTS

Just a little question: with OBJtoM2, can we put multiple textures to a model or just a single image?
Title: Re: [TUTORIAL] Custome Model from Blender to WoW

One Texture per Geoset

Post by: Met@ on July 01, 2014, 02:07:11 am
So, if I want two textures for one model (with two geosets), I have to write it like that? =>

 " OBJtoM2.exe  MyModel.obj  MyModel TextureMyModel_01.blp TextureMyModel_02.blp "
or
"  OBJtoM2.exe  MyModel.obj  MyModel TextureMyModel_01.blp
   OBJtoM2.exe  MyModel.obj  MyModel  TextureMyModel_02.blp "

The first I think  :geek:

Nice tutorials there!
I'm wondering how to do one thing: editing synchronously the vertexes of 2 or more submeshes.
I want to edit the hips of a WoW model imported with .m2i, so it seems I can't join the submeshes or it will break the .m2i...

Any idea?

EDIT: I've found an addon to do this: MultiEdit. :)

Hi,

Ty for your tutorial, it is awesome.
But i'm too bad, and i have some problems.

When i export my obj to a m2, i get the m2 and the skin, i put it in a MPQ with the "texture.blp".
But in wow model viewer i can only view a white cube without any texture.
Same with the necronomicon i downloaded on the first page, it appears white without texture in WMW.

In my .obj, i verified that after "usemtl", there is the name of my texture withtout the extension.
And I used only one texture which i applied on my cube.

My cube on WMV : CubeInWMV.PNG[/attachment:o7l9njpo]
My settings to export : CubeExportOption.PNG[/attachment:o7l9njpo]

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

Bad path to texture i guess

Thank you for your answer.

I checked my texture path and some other things.
And it's still not working.
I think that it is not the problem because when i try to check your necronomicon in WMV, he is white too without textures.
There is in my MPQ : the .blp, the .skin and the .m2

Are there specific rules to create a MPQ containing a M2 ?

(And really good job for your work with Kerrigan, it is incredible)

Could you upload your m2 and I'll check if you're set up properly.
