I did not change anything that has to do with saving. So try if rev 20 or 19 had the same bug?
I tested rev20. and saving is fine. :uok:

BUT [spoiler:3ahpntty][center:3ahpntty]Noggit3_v120_B20

Noggit3_v120_B21 the same place after saving...
[/center:3ahpntty][/spoiler:3ahpntty]

Noggit save changes, trees etc are there. I was in next adt and i saw everithing include changes which i made in B21 but when i go across edge of current adt everithing dissapear.

Noggit / edge error
« on: May 13, 2011, 08:50:33 pm »
Hi I'm not sure what this error causes but sometimes noggit makes one adt a little rised.
It's on every edge of this adt.
I'm sure that its not caused with bad saving. I'm really carefull after few bad experiences.

It's difficult to fix this holes, noggit did me it in three times...  :(

I tryed to spawn some doodads trees, bushes etc.
I decide to use mulgore trees. First I wanted to use alterac but I thing so this looks better.

Finaly I made concept. It will be Wolfridge Mountains. Thre are one tauren willage, one small destroyed human willage and humman keep and many interesting places. I have a lots of ideas :) But time is my enemy :D

Although a highly subjective topic, I must agree with SirFranc on this one. Alterac trees will not fit well with Gilneas and it's tileset.  ;)
Translation error, I translate fit like "in condition" :D so i thought he don't like them :D Sorry and i agree :)

and alterac trees don't really fit XD

What do you have against trees from Alterac? I like them! :D
I'm going to probably use them in my map :)

It's really amazing!
I can't wait to, see it in game or noggit. :)
You want remodel all stromrade?
It will be nice if someone made new ramparts. Ramparts from blizz is really shoddy.

Start with a clear adt.
Paint layer 1 over all chunks.
Painter layer 2 over all chunks
etc.
Export layers with Taliis (i will implement this also into noggit)
Edit them and re import.

Thanks I tried it and really works.
But i'm not sure which way of texturing is better. Because you have to paint every layer separately and don't know how it will look in noggit.
And I think there will be problem with edges of adts. Because you paint only one.

Maybe I would rather prefer the texturing in noggit.

You can make a fixed layer of texture that is uniform all over the map, then export the alpha layer and edit in in photoshop (which has better tools, and you can make a sample edge and copy-paste it, or use filters, blendings etc... and make it really advanced) as png file, then you import in back and WOW! your textures are all done and detailed.

Hey that sounds good. I have to try it :)
And how can I know which textures I'm using now in photoshop??
Or is somewhere tutorial on it?

Depends, they can be used efficiently if you know how, i'm going to look further into that topic, alpha map would spare you a lot of work (i suppose that this land took a load of time)

Unfortunately I don't know how they can  spare me a lot of work :D

Yes you have right, it takes some time. I can do it fast without details or slowly and properly :)
I prefer quality over quantity.

And what about the graß vaiations?
You coud amke a tutorial from this stuff. Would be nice :)

When I'll have time I try to do some tutorial on grass, but I haven't the exact procedure. Just play with it.

That's how I do it. xD
The alphamap on talliis usually looks messed uo that way, but it's not like it's important or even visible for that matter. xD
Yes alphamap in taliis look messed but Never mind :)

I would really like to know the painting technique used for this land, more i look at it and more it reminds me of arathi highlands/emerald dream textures...

Because i really want to do something like that...

When I was on lecture in school, I made some screenshots for you, how I paint mountains.

It isn't everytime same procedure, but in principle is it like on schreenshots.

[spoiler:1wldpbzb][center:1wldpbzb]First. I made some hill...

next I paind places with stone texture, but with little permeation...

I prepare some smaller hills...

I use dirt with small radius to make stone places irregular and stone texture with no permeation to the center...

Last step is grass texture in small radius between stone places...

And this is the result...

A little exhaustive i know :)[/center:1wldpbzb][/spoiler:1wldpbzb]

I hope so it will be helpful :)

Nicely drawn textures, really love the detail :D
I can see that you draw them by hand...had to be not easy.
And i must say , congratulations i think. You are the first one to get good looking textures on your first attempts :D
No really, respect. You took time to look at blizzards stuff or do you already have worldbuilding knowledge , maybe in other games? Or are your a painter?

Im really intrested :D
And! Keep up the great work!
If your doodadplacing has as much dedication as the textures ... well then whew :D

Thank you :)
It is really difficult if I want textures more sophisticated but I just have to do it properly! :D
Yea I checked Blizzard stuff, but sometimes I work in photoshop (rather photomontages :D ) and previously I did in editors for other games.
But I have little fear from my doodadplacing :D

Alphamaps = pre-generated maps added to the ADT :)

And yeah it looks cool, even though I'm partially against alphamapping on this basis :) but yeah I love it, please continue XD

I didn't know what alphamaps means, thanks for explanation. I thought so he want know which textures I used :D
But I created it completely in noggit from flat ground. I did not use alphamaps.

Brilliant! i am myself surprised to see such a level around!
You used Arathi Highlands alphamaps for the ground i guess, or Emerald Dream ones... ?

Thanks a lot! :)

I use Alterac dirt, rock base and two grass from elwyn. For better look I use black texture too. Unusual combination I know :D
But I'm not decided yet which trees I should use. Big choose.
