Wait what, you can use mods on nostralius now?

time to join nostralius I guess.

By the way, I used to have the same problem for my Gnome>Mbelf swaps, anyone know how to fix that one? If I remember correctly changing the eye bp literally did nothing at all, and it looked like the eye glow was hard-coded into the model.

I haven't actually got around to messing with it yet but I was looking to do a nelf>belf edit as well and I looked at the BloodElfMale.m2 file, here's what it tells me for the eye texture.

If it's anything like the fix for my fel orc, try packaging the file "CHARACTERBloodElfMaleBloodElfFemaleEyeGlowGreen.blp" with the edit

If you want model edits on Nostalrius, you have two options:
1: You can merge your files with Patch-2.MPQ
or
you can use my modified wow.exe (viewtopic.php?f=59&t=9218) to load your files directly from the data folder.

I used your modified WoW.exe and it seems to be working perfectly, thank you.

Hi ! Green => Texture missing, or texture too high in resolution. As the Fel Orc is a TBC model, it's probably missing.
The thing is, some textures have their path hardcoded in the file. I know it's the case for Night elves eye glow for example (the wiki says it, at least).
What does that mean ? You're probably putting the eye texture next to the m2, in the Orc folder. Wrong.
It must be in the FelOrc folder or wherever the M2 tells you to go (just search for .BLP as an ASCII String in the M2 viewed in Hex if you want to be sure).
An other easy way to look for the path is to extract the textures with WMV (there is a "Keep path" or something option) and look at the folder tree ;)

I could be wrong, but what you experience already happened to me and that was my problem.

By the way, you don't need to mess with Alpha TBC files. There is a good converter called M2TBC which is able to convert a lot of things from 2.4.3 ; characters included. Just edit in hex the version number if it's higher than 04 (the range for TBC is 04-07, or 08 for Wrath of the Lich King Alpha) and drop it on the M2TBC.exe

I had guessed it might be a path thing since I learned that the m2 is responsible for where all the particles go, I looked at the original F&F patch.mpq and saw that the felorceye.blp file was in characterfelorcfemale so I simply added the path to my patch-4.mpq containing the orc-> fel orc swap but it did not work.
Following your advice I opened the .m2 using HxD and found that it was getting the particle texture from CREATUREFelOrcFelOrcEye.blp, extracting that file and then packaging it wiith the race swap seems to have done the trick.  :D

For some reason the M2TBC.exe I had downloaded did not want to convert the m2 model I extracted from 2.4.3, I read that 2.0.5610 was directly compatible with 1.12 so I figured I would save myself the headache and just use those files :)

Thank you very much for the feedback.
Hopefully this works with helmets and armor, I still have a lot of learning to do.

Is it normal that I'm now disconnecting from the server a lot, and is there a workaround? I was hoping to play a character all the way to 60 using this edit, but if I disconnect every other minute it's kind of a pointless endeavor

Here is a download link for the Patch-3.mpq file I've put together, I tried to trim as much excess as possible so it shold just contain the Orc>FelOrc swap + Eye Texture.

Currently working on a Male Orc -> Fel Orc race swap for 1.12
Hit a little hurdle with the eyes, don't know how to make them the proper red glow yet but I'm looking around for resources and guides that can show me.

"Retro-Porting" / [QUESTION] 1.12 Orc Male -> Fel Orc
« on: June 05, 2015, 04:45:46 am »
Hello, how's it going?
I'm currently in the process of making a race swap from Orc Male to Fel Orc Male, I've created a patch-n.mpq file with the renamed model + loose blp files, attached is a picture of what I've got so far.
[attachment=0:f9rjkl9s]World_of_Warcraft_2015-06-04_19-23-38.jpg[/attachment:f9rjkl9s]

My question is this, does anyone know how to fix the green effect around the eyes? It's supposed to be red and mostly transparent like a glow effect.

Code: [Select]
https://d.maxfile.ro/ypgmsnuwsb.MPQHere's a download of the patched MPQ, I thought maybe adding the orceye.blp file into the MPQ would fix it, but it doesn't seem to change anything, would I need an M2 editor, and does anyone have a working one for 1.12 / 2.0.5610 F&F?

I also noticed that the only alive download link for 2.0.5610 Friends and Family alpha is on a Russian host with what appears to be a 50kb/s download cap, I have these files and wouldn't mind uploading them if anyone would like them on a fast mirror.

"Retro-Porting" / Re: FelOrcMale Down Porting
« on: June 04, 2015, 04:06:48 am »
Rather than making a new thread, I figured I should ask here since have a similar question.
I'm looking to replace the Male Orc model in 1.12.1 with a Male Fel Orc, if possible with tusk/hair options. Are there any existing model edits that do this, and if not would somebody mind pointing me in the right direction in regard to learning how to do it? I want it to be as playable as possible, leveling with the edit from 1-60 (assuming I don't get banned)
I'm a quick learner and I am determined to make this happen one way or another.

Edit: So I've begun downloading both BC 2.0.0.5610 and 2.4.3, I got together M2TBC.exe, MyWarcraftViewer, and an MPQ editor. Am I making a move in the right direction?
