Title: [QUESTION] Fog Glitch on Map?
Post by: Laduguer on August 10, 2014, 12:42:20 am
Hey guys,

I made a new map recently. The water level in this one is at -100, so a lot of the terrain has been lowered to that level. However, when standing on that terrain and looking up, in the distance you can see strange square blocks of fog that come nearer the lower your view distance is. They seem to be exactly level with the 0 level of the map.

Here's a screen, the fog has been coloured in yellow by WMT for clarity:

Any idea why this is? I've tried changing the lighting and adjusting my graphics card settings to no avail. Could it be some kind of ADT corruption, or an error I made when creating the initial ADT in Taliis? Possibly a save error in Noggit?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I couldn't make any sense of it (checked all my past maps and it seems to be an issue there as well), so I just restarted the map again with the water level at 0. Not much of a fix but there you go.

Leaving this one unsolved incase someone has an idea.

Did you add custom lightning, or is it using a pre-set light e.g. from azeroth ?

In that screenshot it's just using the default lighting that a map assumes when you haven't set any.

Probably a sideeffect to that ? Possible.

Perhaps, but changing the lighting settings didn't seem to result in any changes. Weird!

Add a skybox to the area. See if it changes. Else, I could also imagine that it's some flag set in the wdt - would be another idea. There are a lot of possiblities that could play into this.

Given that this issue isn't bothering me anymore (given that I 'solved' it by restarting the build), I don't have the time to look into it as an aside. Thanks for your insight though Ascathos, the next time i'm starting up a new map i'll follow your ideas and see if that fixes it.
