Noggit Not Reading My Map
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:00:36 pm »
I followed the tutorial posted here for world building, but my Noggit just won't read my new map at all. In the data folder I have the WDT and ADTs in the folder for it (Mine is WorldMapsFirstMap) with the ADTs and WDT all reading FirstMap in their respective formats. I even have an edited DBC of the MAP.dbc file in which I added the entry for my map, placing it in the folder DBFilesClient inside of my patch MPQ (for mine it's patch-7.MPQ). So in the data folder of the WoW I wish to use this with, Noggit just doesn't seem to be reading it at all. The log says it's reading the patch, but I don't see the map on the selection screen at all. Any help with this? Maybe I missed a step, or did something wrong?

Try renaming patch-7.MPQ to patch-Q.MPQ (or any letter that's not a number).  I believe WoW refuses to load patches with a number higher than 3.

I just tried your suggestion, Kirth, but to no avail. Nogget still refuses to load the map, even though the log is clearly showing it's looking into the patch file still... Could it be the tutoril I was following might be missing a step involving other files that might be needed such as the WDLs which can be found in the Azeroth and Kalimdor map directories for example?

/EDIT

Uploaded my Noggit log, maybe this can help you guys as well

/Edit 2

I just tried putting the files in my WoW directory (Outside of the patch-#.MPQ) and Noggit decides to read it... Eluo, I think you have some fixing to do in your tutorial, as in, letting players know of this. So that fixes my problem, kinda...thanks for your help Kirth and anyone else willing to post ideas on how to get Noggit to read it out of the patch.
