Some days ago i decided to read Eluo's guide to Alphamaps, and this are the results.

Looks good :) More details doodadson ground. But that have nothing to do with alpha mapping ;)

Maybe i have a wrong concept of alphamapping.

This is indeed a alphamap. And btw it looks quite good on these screenshots. Hope to see some further work on this (:

Okay how did u get the layer pictures like one there ???? thats what i need to know to make it bettah :p

Use FuTa and set to grayscale. Its much easyer to create then this blue stuff ;)
As my tut going on I will sonn create some for alpha with FuTa.

I tried with FuTa too, and always corrupted my ADT or putting the alphamap wrong.

Sure i did something wrong, but i prefer manually.

PD: But if FuTa can offer something better, lets FuTa :P

Sounds like you used older version. It:

1. Crash files if you donßt wait after saving. No check if save is done. So if you closed to soon after savingfiles gone.

2. The alpha was imported twisted. Meens you have to rotateand turn it toget right results.New version seams to fix this all. Its included in the moddinpack fromtutorial.
