Is there a way to import WoW models into 3ds Max 2012 (v14) and to export them?

greetings,

Go into Wow model viewer.
Find the particular model you would like to export.

Then export the model as an .OBJ file.
Then go into 3ds max and click file on the top left corner, then click import.
Go to the location of your new exported .OBJ model, and click the file.

Check all the geosets, check "import as editable poly", and check "import as single mesh".
And that's how you import models into 3ds max.

If it would be that easy to convert them back, there would be houndrets of custom models ;)

The only way that i know to get animated(character) models back into wow is the way that vel and zim4k and mjollna are using. I didn't even try to understand that way because what i read from the shoutbox it seems quiet complicated :D

For unanimated models are some converters in the downloads section, but i am not sure which of them works :/

I've got no clue how to do the animated stuff. However static models are easily converted by exporting them in 3DS to MDL (With Neodex's tools) and then you can use some of the tutorials on the forum to convert the MDL to M2.
