Is there any chance Noggit will ever come to Cataclysm?
Just wondering, since people are starting to abandon WoTLK as a setting for servers.
-
Not in the moment. But time will tell.
-
I know someone who helped someone else to load mop adts in an wow mapeditor. It is some months ago and i dont know if they have continued :/

uhm... What map editor? it can't be noggit or maybe an updated one?
-
No it was not noggit. But as i dont want to say something that may wont be released i wont say anything more^^
And maybe they dont want to have this published sofar.
-
I'm not sure why you want editors for newer versions when there are no good emulators that can support this content.
-
Dito

It's much better to improve WOTLK version. There are so many functions that are needed to be implemented. Map generator. DBC editor. Light editor. Minimap generator. Groundeffects adder. Water editor. Chunk editor (texture flags , Area ID, imapssible flag and etc). Brush support. And a plenty of other functions. I think Cata support is a last step of current development.

Chunk editor (texture flags , Area ID, imapssible flag and etc).
Is in since one year.
Tee rest will need improofments in the QT version. But all devs seam not to like it. But without all the nice stuff is simple not possbile. Or not without much more work around that will coast to much time.
-
But all devs seam not to like it.
If you don't like switching to Qt, continue using the SDL version. I don't care. Some small improvements > no development at all.
-
As i said i want want the qt version.
But i will not get it to work alone.
-
Maybe you should make the SDL version opensource? So others can contribute if they can. I guess there are a lot of people with skills to do it.
-
2 reasons to not do it.
I never expected that anyone else will work on it because QT is the main soruce. If we get a dev team it should dev on this version. So my code is much horror the usual ;) because I never expected to release it.
If all guys code on SDL, qt will never remain in any development. And QT is the only way to get all the planed features inside the editor.
-
So, the first thing we need to do is to implement all features of SDL into QT versions to make QT usable.
-
yeah
-
I think in a wider range. The first thing must be to implement a project manager and a few amework all the he other editors and then can use. Then thendata layer and then the different editor and assistents. I also started on forming this but i do some more things:-)

Noggit needs support for Northrend styled textures.
-
It have. Just use the nothrend tilesets?
-
He means big alpha support.
-
That leads technical to what. I am no data guy ;)

I mean the Northrend texture format.
Currently if you edit anything in Northrend the textures are corrupted because they are made in a different way.
This is the same issue I have with any cata ADT as they use the same textures as Northrend.
Currently the only way to fix this is to perform a full retexture.
If Noggit could support this texture format we could edit new adts without having to retexture them.
-
Why should i want to edit something there ;)
Thats why i never missed it. The question is do it look other?

Well...To...Change Northrend.
What do you mean "Do it look other?"
It looks like a lot of glitched textures when viewed ingame without the adt setting.
When using the correct adt setting, Noggit wipes any textures turning it into default brown dirt.
-
I meen i never wanted to change existing wow material.
I meen have it another look or is it only needed to edit northrend.

It's needed to edit anything made after Quel'danas.
Northrend, Cataclysm Azeroth, the instanced Deathknight start zone and so on.

What he's saying is he never wanted to change anything that was already in the game, Noggit is for making your OWN places, continents, islands, etc.
[scratch that last bit, read below]

It was never made to edit Blizzard's ADT's, but to make new ones.
It was. And by definition of what Noggit is, it should be possible: Otherwise, the ADTs Noggit produces to not conform to the clients rules, and are bad. Which is anything, but the goal of Noggit.
Noggit = World editor = 100% conformance to file format = edit blizzard ADTs just as create new ones, as there just is no difference.
When I developed on Noggit, I never even made a new ADT, but always edited existing ones.

Not what I meant. I should've been clearer, I realised that after posting it. I can't quite think of a way to explain what I meant.
I've only ever used it to edit current one's too, however, I was explaining what I think Steff was trying to get across. Apologies.

The thing is that I have not the need to get this implemented. So i dont spend my less time on it. Perhaps beket will have a look. I can ask him :)

Please do (: Roleplay servers use Noggit to change the world accordingly to the player's actions, and due to this we cannot touch Northrend.
-
Be creative and create new content instead of changin existing stuff.
-
Me and Beket are working on some functions of Noggit. We decided to fix different bugs of Noggit. Beket started with water and now it's finished, but not properly tested. So, I'll ask him to work with big alpha.

Thanks ^^
And Steff, while I intend to use Noggit to create new stuff (I am making a Colonization server with new worlds)
I also want Prologue to be able to change zones.
-
By the way big alpha support is a step to Cataclysm adt editor.
