I just wanted to stop in and say that I haven't forgotten about this, I just have far too many irons in the fire right now.  I'll be back to this after I poke at that a bit more...

DNS stuffs... I hates its.

Steff's list kinda just confirmed what I suspected from looking at the files that Schlumpf linked...   ...Eulo's tutorial didn't mention a step for AreaTable.dbc.

It's bed time for me now, but hopefully I'll be able to take a swing tomorrow.

I'm stuck on this as well... Two tries from the start and they both got stuck at the same place... Figured I'd come here to 'search' for help to hopefully make the third time a charm...

I've been following Eulo's tutorial...

Used Taliis to make a new .wdt - named it and mapped out the adt array - saved it - made the adt with the ground texture - saved it - closed Taliis, opened adt adder created additional adt's - ran the offset fix - extracted the map.dbc from patch-enUS-3.MPQ - opened map.dpc with mpq editor - copied 'Kalimdor', switched to 'Strings' added my map name, found my map number - went back to the first 'Table' list, and added my number to fields #1 and #5... the tutorial said #1 and #7 but on mine it was fields 1 and 5 that had the copied entry's name (number)... ... and I incremented field #0 by +1 from the entry above it.

I skipped the 'for your server' part because I'm not ready for using this with my server... I'd like to load it into Noggit and play with some terrain before I move on to that...

I'm getting hung up here...

At this point noggit won't show up your new instance because you will have to put the Files also in the wow folder and not in the patch beacuse noggit sets the priority of the dbc files to those who are extraced into your wow folder.
So just take the dbc,the adts and the wdt files and put them in to the wow folder like this:
For adts:
wowfolderworldmapsyourawsomeinstancename
For the dbc:
wowfolderDBFilesclient

...at first I forgot to copy the .wdt over with the .adt's, but was able to figure that out from looking at my first log...

Thoughts? Questions?

Just so you all know- I figured out why I was having problems downloading this earlier. FireFox.

Was downloading the BETA today and had the same problem, switched over to IE and I was able to download.

In short- FireFox has issues with File-Upload.net... or at least the FireFox installed on my system.

Well, I spent some of last night looking around the results of some Noggit related google searches and re-installing WoW after deleting some registry entries. While I was looking at a couple forum posts I downloaded a couple Noggit's people had uploaded and linked. One ended up being the same 104 I already had so was of little real use to me. The other ended up being a build from October something of 20something. Noggit2003 I seem to remember...

Earlier today I had another go at it, and finally as a last resort 'clean-file-system-and-directory-structure-be-damned' approach I dumped the extracted locale-enUS.mpq, Noggit 104 folder and Noggit2003 folder into the client directory, Noggit104 died as usual I think. Surprisingly Noggit2003 allowed me to load a map (GMIsland to keep it small and simple),  however I was missing most of the UI.

As it stands I had to make new copies of the client folder and will be away from home for the next couple of days. So I suppose my next question should be this...

Has there been any recent thought/mention about the new version?

I plan to revisit this when I get home and haven't given up, I'm just kinda hoping that this "October Build" is a halfway between 104 and the new version.

Thanks.

So where does that leave me? Give up and check back from time to time to see if 120 is up?

Seriously though... is there a "How to install" kickin around somewhere?

I found the part on the FAQ about extracting "locale-enUS.MPQ", so I extracted it. Now I have a folder named DBFilesClient... where does this go? WoW client root? client rootdataenUS? I've tried both and still getting the same error log.

So seriously... how to install doc somewhere?

No... no... I read the FAQ- http://modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=38. It's where I got the "set compatibility for XP SP2" that I mentioned in my OP. I've read the FAQ 3 times in 15 minutes trying to pry something loose, but still nothing.

But then me, being me, started to wonder... and sure enough there are TWO FAQ's... TWO!!!

Maybe someone might wanna add a link to the forum FAQ directing people to the blogspot FAQ... i dunno- maybe...

Is there a 'how to set up' forum post someone can recommend? I know what it's like- answering the same question you've answered 1,000 times and knowing it's been asked another 10,000 times...

Downloaded, made Directories, copied a clean client, extracted, edited the config file, launched... read the log file... searched the forum... made a desktop shortcut, set compatibility for XP SP2, added a second slash to the end of the path lines in my config... cleared the log... launched... read the log again... searched the forum some more. Made a forum post.

Thank you. Who knows why it wouldn't work, but every time I clicked all I got was another popup. And I clicked a lot of times...

Anyhow- That download link worked, so thanks again for that. Now if I can just find the time to sit down and give it a whirl... ;D

@ Jack Apologies for placing this in the wrong category... I since have seen the errors of my ways.

@ Steff "Latest Noggit3 DL Rev.104" link on http://nogg-it.blogspot.com/ points to http://www.file-upload.net/download-2162528/Noggit3.zip.html clicking on what appears (white down right pointing arrow in a green box with the text 'download') to be the download button does nothing but open more popups for me.

Just sayin... there are better easier to use download hosts out there...

I was excited to give this a try, but even after repeated attempts to click the download button I gave up due to no download starting and bunches of pop-ups.

This was while using the download link on nogg-it.blogspot.com,
