Title: [SOLVED] [QUESTION] Male Ogre player models
Post by: Nation on April 03, 2015, 02:17:01 am
Hey, so I've got these player models working, they are able to wear every piece of armor and such. My problem is though, that the ogre model in the male slot won't show its legs unless it has a helmet equipped. It doesn't matter if it's the two-headed ogres or the normal ones, it won't show without a helmet.
Any help would be appreciated! <3

The models work fine when set as female though.

I guess you need to flip normals

Nope, if normals were the case, then the back faces would be showing on the back of the legs., think about that, you've done 3d work for a while now, should know how backfaces work by now, and this clearly isn't a backface issue.

I can't help out the OP because I don't know how the geoset data controlled on playable models, but for creatures, it's in the CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc file on 15th slot for the geosetdata bitset.  I'm pretty sure there's an explanation somewhere on here since I've seen Many people post about missing legs for player models in my time here.

Goodluck, wish I could help more but I haven't bothered with character stuff given there's so many people in that field already which leaves so many others untouched because of it.

You should probably look up what geoset type your legs use. Cause that is just plain odd.

Just turn the model into m2i put in blender join the legs to the feet and export m2i then turn back to m2 and done.

You're legs geoset aren't being called that's why they don't show so just join them with the feet.

I'm working on trying to fix WoD ogres to wear armor and stuff. I'll probably release that once it's finished.

That'll probably be hard as hell, since WOD Ogres doesn't use character uv-mapping.

It is probably possible to remake them like people do with WOD characters.

Probably, but the entire affair would be one heck of a work. Then again, c'est custome.

Ofcourse it is possible but the thing is that these layouts are not even SIMILIAR to a character layout, which the WOD characters HAVE, cause they're already character layed out.

It's pretty straight forward just re-uv them like I do to most none player models and turn them into player models, it takes time but it gets the job done.

You also have to remake the model's textures and rearrange them to be in the proper coordinates for player textures.

I was actually going to do this back in November but I never got around to it.

Any who it's not hard just takes time due to the amount of textures that need to be moved around.

I used to have a template made since I made some none player models into players but I seem to have deleted it, it was just a guide line basically just so I knew where to stick things in so just uhm you the human skin turn it into a png and recolor the sections and then name them if you want so you can also have your guide lines and it should help.

Even though these uv's are actually pretty simple compared to some that I have done.
