Would anyone be willing to teach me animations?
« on: March 11, 2016, 01:13:45 am »
I've looked through a lot of the tutorials on here but most are about converting animations and not creating them. I can't find anything on creating custom animations and I'm wondering, one, if it's possible and two, how to do it. I have MDLVIS and all sorts of conversion programs but I really don't know which files I'm looking to change and what to change them in and how to change them. If anyone can give me a detailed guide or teamviewer help or anything about making a custom running animation for human females I'd be grateful.

Alternatively if anyone has a recent guide to animation that would be great.

So I exported humanmale model to .3ds from wowmodelviewer with initial pose checked. Then converted it to mdx and then to mdl.

Added these lines from nullmodel.mdl

to humanmale.mdl to get this...

At this point the humanmale.mdl opens fine in mdlvis except it's incredibly small and I have to zoom in very far to see anything...

When I try to go into sequence editor (which is where I can only assume animations can be changed) I get an access violation.

This is about as far as I've made it with animation editing.

Used lkbc_converter to make the WOTLK human male model mdlvis friendly. Opened the m2 in mdlvis and saved it as .mdl. Opened the .mdl in MdlVis and it was seemingly fine but sequence editor won't work.

You need to extract the textures and place them into the modell folder.

From WMV? Because when I extract textures from wmv it exports a .m2 for some reason.

Either with WMV or extracting from MPQ. You need the textures though.

I can't find the textures in the patches. Not with these names at least. And what I meant is when I export textures in wmv it gives me a .m2 file
