Title: Custom map extraction - Some WMOS work and others don't. Help!
Post by: nomad_ on March 07, 2018, 06:48:40 am
Hey there, been playing around with noggit for awhile now and decided on editing a bit of the Hinterlands for my server. I've reworked a lot of the map that's already existing without changing anything substantial (like adding or removing ADTs) but today after I worked out how to do custom extraction via the wow folder's mpqs, I ran into a problem.

In my reworked Revantusk village, I've replaced everything to fit an orcish theme (like orc tower, orc inn, orc fortress, etc) and after exctracting maps, vmaps and mmaps I've ran into a problem. Most new WMOs on the map work, but there are two in the town (orc tower and orc greathall) that vmaps and mmaps aren't working at all on. See, I know the extraction worked properly for every other building because I was testing NPC pathing before and after and on the rest of the buildings where NPCs used to fall through, they can know path on correctly, except for these annoying WMOs.

I did the whole method the right way I read (by replacing ADTs inside the original wow MPQs and removing duplicates) so I am guessing that is why most of the other WMOs are working but it leaves me wondering, why aren't these last few working in the same way the others are?

Any help appreciated, ty.

Was there any output while extracting?

No there wasn't unfortunately. I'm using the most updated version of trinity and it seems they've changed how the maps, vmaps, etc work as I cant use old map files on my new build so I am being forced to use the official extractors that have no output.

So weird. All the WMOs on all the other ADTs work and even other WMOS on the same ADT as the broken WMOs work. It's just these two buildings orcgreathall and orctower that aren't generating proper vmaps or mmaps. :/

I might try generate again but move all the ADTs from common-2.mpq to patch-3.mpq and see if it makes a difference.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: also, I didn't replace the .wdt file in the blizz mpqs (common-2) because I hadn't made any changes to the WDTs. I thought for a moment it could be that but because the rest of the WMOs generated properly (including on the same ADT) I am guessing that it wasn't the problem.

Might be onto something here. I stretched the area ID of Revantusk Village to allow more room for buildings. It seems the bugged WMO building without vmaps/mmaps are sitting where I stretched the border to. I'll put some images below of original and unmodified and my modified version.

Think they might be connected?

On Noggit side, areaid and Amos should be 100% separate. No idea on tc.
